So from the looks of it grin will be investing heavily in freegen going forward. The issue as I see it is that grin doesn’t have any shipping product of it right now or in the near future. It likely will require a lot of prototyping and investment in production facilities.

The hype and enthusiasm that grin has for this product makes it seem like this will be the main product in upcoming years.

But in the meantime they need to fund operations with the current product lineup.

How does freegen compare to the all axle from grin?

It seems that freegen has a more seamless transition to coasting, has the advantage of reduction gearing for hill climb, and doesn’t wiggle the nuts holding it in as much. Why not just wait for freegen to ship when it does?

Gimmick. Anything that reverses motor torque is more trouble than benefit at the level of engineering DIYers inhabit.

I'm glad they're moving the state of the art forward, but it's science project stuff for most of us.

Incorrect, in this case Chalo:
The nut loostening, dropout eating, reverse torque all goes through the brake disk and caliper.
Justin forgot to strap down the torque arm during testing, and 'discovered' this with no breakage.

I've NB'd your 'writing off' of anything new. Kinda sad. :(
Surprised you didn't write off E-bikes and just keep pedaling your arse off and swearing at E-bikers..? :) Were you younger then?
