Hey,
I recently built up a Grin Tech kit and will soon be adding a headlight to the bike that runs off the 36V motor battery.

I ordered this new Busch + Müller Lumotec IQ-X E which has an input range of 6-60 VDC

I was looking at my handlebars today and realized I've been kinda bothered by the triple aux switch which has a "power" button in the middle that remains unconnected to the Cycle Analyst.

Then it came to me. Maybe I could use the switch to activate my headlight/taillight?
Unfortunately I believe all three switches are momentary which won't be of much use without some debouncing and latching.
Have any of you hooked up your center switch to a peripheral that required latching?

Thanks,
Andrew

If the unit is not sealed, you can open it up and replace the center switch with a push-on push-off type.

I'm not familiar with that specific unit, so I'll ask a question that might be dumb but: Is that switch wired into the other stuff in the unit in any way, or do all the wires for that center switch come out totally separately from the rest of the stuff in the unit? (If they don't, you might have to fix taht before using it as a power switch).

I ended up just getting a cheap bar mounted rocker switch which I think was originally designed for motorcycles.
Pretty junky and not waterproof as advertised but $7 seems reasonable for the experiment.
I'd eventually love to 3-D print a handlebar mount then insert a sealed switch.

I tapped directly off the battery power with one of the splitters that Grin Tech sells.
Works great so far and that 150 lux headlight beam is fantastic, just in time for winter!

Cyclefab eCycleTruck upgraded from localized AA powered battery lights (B&M IXON IQ Premium and Toplight Line Permanent) to B&M IQ-X E (150 Lux) and Toplight Line E (B&M323/5AEL0211) with a wide input range of 6-60VDC designed for eBike power. by Andrew Squirrel, on Flickr

Are you sure that taillight is going to work?
Looks light a dynamo light. Which is AC, not DC

Yeah, B&M have two different DC version of the Toplight.
One is designed for 6VDC only
The other is wide range 6-60VDC
Peter White seems to be the only person distributing the second, wide input range version.

Ahh that's what the 'E' is for.
You're right, Peter White has the only info on it, not even b&m site mentions it.

I like how low you've mounted the headlight, but what is it mounted to??

Cargo bike has a custom headlight mount protruding from the base of the cargo platform.
One side is for clamping a handlebar mounted battery light, other side has a threaded hole tapped into a cap on the tube.
I only have the DC lamp connected now but this photo shows both:
