What kind of brakes are on this bike?
They look like the hydraulic rim brakes.

They talk about my previous record 8)

But they still dont know my new record  113kmh

and the next record i'll do... 130+km/h

with.... ONE motor.. not two.. BTW.. i would NEVER put 4hp on a front motor .... at 102kmh !!

pedal assist or not.. I reallydont care

Is it really that hard to hit 60 MPH? Anyone can go over 50 by bolting on a 1000W Golden Motor and 24S LiPo.

I need to get a controller up and running on 48S and see what it will do.... The simulator says 63-65 MPH, controller current limited.

48s.. ha! time for a 64FET controller.

This bike is built to do 60Mph on a track, but has nothing to ride 50 every day on the streets.

Many, much better builds can be found here on the sphere.

To use the word "record" when your bikes can't even beat Sam Whittingham pedaling an unassisted bicycle is just sad.

Perhaps a legit record for something that must be pedaled. Just what is the defenition of bicycle these days? More and more, I start liking the tags high power moped, or featherweight motorcycle. I start to think of anything not street legal as not so "bike" anymore.

This is a record IMO as it is a pedelec system which
requires pedal input...
Are you serious? That guy was ACTUALLY pedaling at 63mph? To reach that speed, he'd need a cadence of around 180rpm. For me, pedaling becomes meaningless at 30mph.

Seems like the crank is a bit small for pedaling at 63 mph. But perhaps only faux pedaling was required to get a full throttle effect? This one pedals ok at about 35 mph, but at 40 you are just spinning.58 TOOTH CRANK small pic.jpg

To clarify, that bike never went 40. The same crank is on my race bike nowdays. At 47 mph pedaling it is a joke.
Note the relative size of the 58 tooth ring to the aotema hub, which is similar to 400 series clyte in size.

When I pedal at 30mph I'm contributing only 5% of the needed power. Crouching down at that speed is much more efficient as I can easily shave 10% of the needed power.

No kidding. Slower than a human pedaling with no motor is not a feat.

Not to mention, some of us do >80+MPH on commuter bicycles on a daily basis.

The previous world record of Marcus Hays in september 2007 the 93kmh i have beat in 2009 had NO PEDAL AT ALL

@SamTexas...read the article, clearly states its a pedalec
Setup which requires pedalling for the throttle to work.
Why do this? No idea, it is what it is.

Im with you DoGMaN, the high power bikes are more
Mopeds or lightweight motorcycles than bicycles.

Hell, even my 25-30mph capable bike I consider more of a mopeds

I almost never pedal.

I know it's a pedelec, or more likely one that pretends to be a pedelec. What I'm saying is pedaling is totally useless at 63mph with that gearing. The power contributed by the cyclist (if he can actually spin that fast) is zero.

In this case it makes no difference whether the bike is pedelec or not.
