In January 2013 I received a Headway 36V/15Ah battery kit from Headway Headquarters. Using SketchUp 8 I proceeded to model, within a tolerance of +/-0.005 inches, all of the components that make up the battery (excepts for the wires and RTCs). Attached is a zipped archive of the SketchUp model. You can use the free version of SketchUp from http://www.sketchup.com/ to work with the file. I have used SketchUp for years on various projects and consider it to be relatively easy to learn and intuitive to use.

A typical layout for a 36V battery is included in the model as shown below. You can use this as the starting point to design any Headway 40152S battery you like, up to 72V or more, although over 60V would require a larger BMS unit. The spacer blocks form an exact 2-by-1 rectangle so that many different layouts of the cells are possible. The Select (spacebar), Move (letter M with Ctrl for copy), and Rotate (letter Q) tools are the most useful for manipulating the components. Have fun!!!

Excellent job, looks great!!!
Thanks Jimmie D.

When I get the battery case built, I will post plans and pics of that as well. Been waiting for the weather to warm up to get back in the garage to do the work.

That's really neat and shows that since I have to split my 12S it should be pretty easy. I doubt I will use a BMS but probably a12- 14S balancing charger and cellogs to monitor in use.
