Hi, I'm not sure if I have this in the correct forum, please let me know whether I should move my thread to another. I am looking to build my own electric "Go Kart". Im thinking a small kart maybe a bit heavier than an E-Bike. I would like 60km/h on flat ground and a minimum of 20km of range. I have done some of my own research into parts I will need but I do not really know what I am doing.. I've tried to be cheap and I am looking at batteries/motors on Ali Express though I am not sure how much I can trust it. Would a 2kw motor be good for my purpose? And what voltage should I look for/battery size too? I mainly need help on the electronics side of things as I have not used motor controllers or played around with motors much at all. The frame should be the easier part in my case. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

There's a number of kart builds here on ES; I recommend looking at them to find the one most similar to what you want yours to do for you, then base yours on what they used.

To know what motor, battery, controller, gearing, etc that you'll need, you'll have to first define exactly what you want it to do for you, under what riding conditions, and what features you want it to have, etc.

Then you can take that to simulators like those at ebikes.ca , etc., and find out how much power it takes to do what you want under those conditions, by trying various items listed in the simulator (or making your own in the custom options) until you get the results you want.

After you try out your build, you'll probably want more of whatever you've got than you have, so buy stuff that's more capable than what you need, by as much as you can afford (especially battery), so you don't have to replace it all to improve performance. ;)
