I have 2 X 24v packs each one monitored with cell logs and I run both packs is series to run my 48v 40a controller. My question is:

Can I bulk charge both packs simultaneously with a 48v (16s LiFePO4) charger and still have the cell logs connected to the individual packs ie charge the combined packs WHILE they are still connected in series AND leave the cell logs on for monitoring HVC???

Just for backround Info, I am not using BMS but am using voltfreaks to balance charge. My goal is to 48v(16s) bulk charge to 3.6v cut off via cell log alarm port, then top off with the freaks array.

Will this work?????

Sure why not? Weather discharging or charging the CellLogs are seeing the same thing. It is also my intention to bulk charge to 3.6v and then top charge to 3.65 with freaks. I have already done my testing and it works fine. T otake it a step further I have tested bulk charging while with the freaks already connected and also charging. When one cell hits 3.6 I disconnect the bulk charger and leave the freaks to finish off. I have only done this in limited testing but it seems to work great and it charges a lot faster too.

As said it will work fine, but if you want to use the Cell Log alarm to switch off or isolate the charger for a HVC you'll need to make up a little circuit to conbine the alarm outputs. The details of the circuit are in the Battery section of ES. Ggoodrum was good enough to post up a basic circuit that can be adapted to work as either a HVC or LVC, but for the HVC you'll need to figure a way to isolate the the charger.

Here's what I use for my 48v bulk charging setup with Cellogs:

Bruce, Can you please check your link. I was unable to open it. Thanks, Bob

The alarm output of the CellLog is not isolated, so you can't connect more than one without isolating the output. No problem connecting all of them to the pack and monitoring. The opto isolator setup with a 4.7k resistor works great. Then you just need a way to kill the charger when any of them trips.
