I need to make a 48V and roughly 60Ahr li-ion battery. However, I do not need a large discharge rate (2A max).

I've found 2.6Ahr 18650s to be the easiest to purchase, but I'd rather not have to solder 23 of these together so a cell with a higher capacity (at least 5Ahr). Can anyone recommend a good, reliable, high capacity cell to construct this battery with, as well as a good retailer?

Currently I'm looking into what SAFT has to offer, and I am waiting to hear back about their 7Ahr cells, or others that might work for me.

I have looked into the cells (ion and poly) on these type of websites (allbattery, batteryspace, etc.), but I've read a good bit of bad reviews about them. I used some tenergy packs from allbattery.com in the past and wasn't too pleased with the performance, but the protection circuitry worked well;)

I guess i know who the manufacturers are but not too educated on quality and reliable places to purchase the cells. The bigger li-ion cells seem to make you deal directly with the manufacturer's sales group. Any thought?

If you don't need the density of Li-Co chemistry, it might be easiest to join a few Ping LiFePO4 packs together. Thundersky also makes 60Ah single cells.

Thanks for the suggestions! those PSI building block sets look pretty cool! I'm going to try avoiding the iron phosphate cells just because they are capable of way more power than I want, and have the lower voltage. They also seem to be a little pricier.

Keep in mind the cycle/lifespan difference between LiFe and LiMn or LiCo. I am not sure how important that is to you, but still should be something to be aware of.
