Anyone know anything about the new high performance transmissionless electric motors from kmd?

sounds like they're using ferrite cores instead of laminated iron.
Something I have suggested in the past.

i've also been puzzled with this idea, why all dc/dc converters use ferrite core inductors rather than steel inductors?
what i guessed was that ferrite cores are more efficient/less lossy but get easily saturated??
