High Voltage DC/DC?

Morning,

I've been scouring the internet looking for a dc/dc that converts 550V dc to 12V dc. The Power output isn't critical but the size of the package is.

Has anyone found a DC/DC that does this but isn't the size of a tank?

Thanks

Cyrus

You may find something like a pair of universal AC/DC input voltage 12v isolated supplies placed in series with a couple TVS diodes to make sure input voltage can't shift too high on one or the other works for you. You can just adjust the voltage to match (for best current sharing) ans parallel the 12v outputs. You could place 3 in series easily with 550v.

Keep in mind, most modern PFC equipped high speed switching AC input stuff runs perfectly (even slightly more efficient) from DC up to ~380vdc or so. This includes everything from laptop chargers to isolated AC/DC supplies etc.

The First post sounded interesting, except the im under quite a time constraint at the moment. I'll look into it further thanks.

Second post, magic.

Third post, I'll pass on that as it needs to be isolated.

Thanks Guys

Size depends on power levels...what wattage is the goal?

I'm expecting about 10 Amps maximum output but that is an estimate at the moment. All the DC/DC converters I have seen have high outputs of 70-100 Amps which is overkill and explains why they are Huge :/
