Hoverboard Technologies comes out of stealth today with a preview video, and will go on Kickstarter September 17 for around $4,000, shipping next year.

Robert Bigler is a designer and an engineer with a passion for automation and electric vehicles. With a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, he taught himself electronics and computer programming to develop extremely compact and flexible motion-control and automation products. After growing his first company to be a global force among multi-billion-dollar competitors, Robert sold it and created an incubator in the Silicon Valley.

After graduating from SJSU 1987, Robert co-founded Animatics Corporation. He invented, patented and commercialized the industry’s first fully integrated servo systems called the "SmartMotor". Animatics grew to the point of having offices in Japan, California, NY, the UK and Germany. With more than 130 worldwide distributors they sold their components into thousands of demanding applications, from undersea robots to experiments in the Space Station. They were honored with several awards being placed INC. 500 and Silicon Valley Business Journal lists of fastest growing companies. Moog Incorporated (a well respected multi-billion dollar motion control company) acquired Animatics in 2011.

Selling Animatics to Moog empowered Robert to start Equalia with headquarters in Mountain View, CA (the same city he was born in). Equalia’s team is completely focused on building a revolutionary mobility device called the HoverBoard. Robert will bring the HoverBoard to market in 2015.

Looks like a really cool and very expensive slim OneWheel eboard. http://rideonewheel.com/

yeah, maybe too slim.
what is interesting is the hubless design.
btw, I ran across a video of someone taking a solowheel clone and mounting a deck to it. (can't find the video)
looks sketchy though..

Also, there were many DIY self-balancing boards before OneWheel, using similar single fat tire.
I think they were the first to use a hub motor.

Just went live...it's not the Lexus or Hendo version either.

What I find most surprising is the name: no one's trademarked "hoverboard" yet???

I'd never trade in my electric longboard, but if I had to choose one of those electric unicycle styles, I'd prefer the Airwheel version to this OneWheel format. Can you carve on one of these?

Yikes! I like the solo wheel w/ skateboard deck on top better... Plus about $2800 cheaper! was just looking for it on youtube as i remember watching the video. MIght've been on here somewhere. I'll look and post if i find it.

I think the trademarked "hoverboard" was already existing, by Mattel, featured from "back to the future".
