I have an e bike that I want to remove the brake levers and replace with higher quality and the current brakes have the safety cut off that cuts power off to motor when braking. Are there 2 wires going to each brake and if I cut them do I simply keep both wires separated to keep the motor functioning normally? Thanks :?:

Well, cutoff brake is a safety feature, especially with a DD hub that can regen. If you don't want them anymore, best is to unplug them from the controller but yes, it will do it if you just cut the wires and make sure they don't short. I suggest that you either add a switch to your new levers, or buy switched hydro levers, to keep the cutoff brake feature.

MadRhino is giving you excellent information. Safety should be job one on all your mods and builds. I used a reed switch, magnetically operated switch, near my rear disk brake for my brake cutoff switch. Many ways to do this and I got the idea from someone that did the same to their brake levers on the handlebars. Link is to a post that this mod and not programming my controller properly may have saved my life.

i just bought a few of these, i plan to wire them up to a couple of my bikes.

turn signal = 3 spd swtich
red switch = power
green horn = regen activated thru brake switch

even if you have a geared motor the green button as a temp cut off would work, just in case u couldnt reach the red button :D
