Morning everyone

Just thinking about spare parts should anything go wrong plus about stories you read. I did read a story of a couple of people who have had broken axles. With the generic rear hub motor are all the axles the same or do you have to get in contact with the supplier? If so wheres a good place to look for them? I've been looking and can only find the cromotor ones

The ones I read up on that fix them, had a machine shop cut them a new Axle.

I was thinking that. I have a lathe so I'd give it a go. I've modified mine so it can take a 5mm skewer for a QR as my frame doesn't have dropouts

Generic hub motors are cheap, just get a spare. Generally you can swap motor cores and their matching covers from wheel to wheel, but many changes have been made over the years to the actual axle machining. So old stuff and new generally won't swap, except what I said above. So you can have two wheels, say one 20" and one 26", and the magnet rings with them. Any core and covers will fit. drill new bolt holes in the covers maybe, but usually not.

You won’t break motor axles if you make proper torque plates or pinch dropouts. That is a case where 2 hours of prevention work, can save you a sh*tload of problems.
