I found a picture of the stator of the 5000 serie and with the 400 serie.

The size difference look very impressive!

it seems that theX5 have twice the magnetic surface area!

The bionX have less coil than i expected!

The Avanti is strange with the perpendicular stator.. like 5 1/4 disk drive motor of of computer!

The GL-2 have some very thiny coil!

That Avanti motor is cool. The heat from the windings can conduct to the outer surface directly, so cooling would be good. It would be possible to make a motor like that with two stators on either side of a single rotor. A geared version would be better.

Below is the stator from my BMC motor. Not a hub motor, but still a stator. Hmmm.... looks like my avatar :D

i'd love to SEE a comparison between the windings of two 4 or 5 series motors ie a 5302 vs a 5305

This is a great thread!

the avanti is interesting, pitty its SOOO slow

5302 is the fastest one of the series. right?

I wonder how that compares with a 04 0r 03.!

efreak

Xlyte motors use multiple strands of copper in parallel. A 5302 would have more parallel strands, but fewer turns each. Outwardly, I would expect a 5302 and a 5304 to look very similar. You would see the difference where the ends of the wires are soldered together.

Technically, 5302 has the same rated power, torque and speed as those of 5304.

The rated current of 5302 is twice of 5304, and its rated voltage is half of 5304.

.... and for the 5305  .. both... and more mass of copper...?!

the Bionx stator core pictures look vastly different than the video clips posted on the web.

Love the pictures of the different cores though, thanks. 8)

I think the BionX have two gen of motor .. the one i've posted is the older version...

here is a simple version of a 6 pole-pair brushless motor:

the 5000 serie of Crystalyte have 24 pole-pair.
