Hello, i'm a veteran mountainbiker that want a little help on the trails...

The question is:

Is there any rear hub motor compatible with 9 speed freewheel (SUNRACE 9s) and disk?

Thank you.

just the other day at the LBS i seen a bionix 250w motor w/ a 9spd freewheel. other than that i personally have not seen or read about another that can hold 9spds.

edit: sorry i don't recall if it had a disk as well

There are few hub motors that can fit with 9 speed freewheel together with disc. But it depends on the frame and disc caliper.

Here are few that i think it can fit. Once again it need to meet pre-requisites and require some work to make it work. When it works, it looks awesome!

- Crystalyte HS/HT rear motor
- BMC motor
- Bionx
- Bafang BPM2
- Bafang QSWXH-Rear

Here are sample picture of ebike that had 9 speed freewheel together with disc:

Hey Ken,

That's good stuff to know, thanks for sharing. Just to be clear, u said it may require some work. So which of these will fit in a standard size 135mm dropout w/o any mods? And the ones that do require a mod, how much stretching are we talking? Thanks, Newb

Newb:

The shape of the caliper could interrupt your installation, like screw that stick out. the most we will try to stretch is 1 - 2mm, anything higher then that we tell customers we will not do the conversion due to spacing issue. Or if the frame are steel. Mostly of time we don't have to stretch it. Bike that had 9 speed are generally mid to higher end, components are generally very good like the green bike here.
