If you are building packs today, which cells to choose?

How good of a deal is this? It seems really good?
 
I think I would also include NCR18650b. Properly sized into 6P+ groupings, they will easily provide 40A continuous at 2C and be happy about it. If you keep these cells with 20% to 80% SOC, you can exceed 28,000 cycles.

There's many a good reason that Tesla uses them in the Model S. You just have to make sure you size the pack large enough that 2C will cover your Current requirements.

This is the core of the "cell selection" issue. Ebikes don't have room for a huge battery pack, so...battery pack components are a crucial selection process due to size limitations. I want more range, and at the same time I have started a protocol where I charge to only 4.1V per cell. I just ordered a much larger battery, even though the pack I have right now has nothing wrong with it...

This sounds like pure BS. The second statement about Tesla is as already pointed out not correct, but please provide some evidence for the first claim.
My guess is that the B cell will suffer from extended use at anything higher than 0,5C.

My 18650PF (396Cells) 52Ah 80V triangle pack :twisted:

Over a year now, still feels like brand new.
~150 Cycles
Charging 0.15C to 4.1V
Discharging 0.7C to 3.4V

If 12000 MAh cells were true then Model S would drive ~1700km with one charge!
 
I recently got 500 ct. panasonic GA cells from batterybro.com. They're an american company based in Honk Kong. They were $3.91 per cell, at the time. Shipping to orlando was $210 air/ground in ~7 days. Payment processing was $65.

Also, there was a $68 COD from UPS (more like a ransom if you ask me. you better bet I'll cough up seventy more bucks in cash for those effing batteries, lol).

So, all in all, $2300.

We've tested about 5 random cells (1a and 2.5a so far) out of the 3 boxes. From 4.2 to 2.5v, they showed 3550 mAh. Also, they shipped at 3.5v.

If anyone has been considering them, batterybro is a great choice for grade A cells. My battery builder also has had a good experience with them.

Based on some email exchanges, I can tell you Michael Hogan (@ batterybro) is a good guy to deal with. Feel free to give him your business.

Very soon now, I'm getting a 24s12p built, or something in that range.

Thats an amazing deal at 1.25 each. I bought 200 cells Comes with 10S BMS's too. These were pack 36V pack for the hoverboard that didnt work out. Manufactured in 2015 but still good cells.
 
Samsung 30Q 18650s are the best choice currently. Lipos are LI-ion batteries without the casing, hence lighter but prone to damage and puffing up.

30% more expensive than 18650PF. Lipos are always heavier than 18650. Lipo Only benefit is higher current capability.
 
Choose the cells to suit the intended pack use, power demand, capacity, weight, etc
EG.. A 30 Ah pack for a ebike might use one type of cell, whilst a 10Ah (short commute) pack for the same bike might need a very different cell.
 
Mj1 hg2 seem to have a consensus among a number of competent resellers.
