To charge my 48v 20ah battery, what is needed to use an IMAX b6 charger/balancer? i don't see how it connects to a 110 power source, there is no cord to plug in as a regular charger. Is there more to it than the 20 dollar average EBAY/Amazon price? Which do you like and use?

Yeah, that charger needs a 12v power supply.

Also, one B6 is not going to be a very effective way of charging a 48V20Ah battery. Aside from it being the wrong voltage for the whole pack, it's a 50w charger and you have a 960 watt pack. That means it would take 19.2 hours to charge the pack if no balancing was performed. and that doesn't include all the cell swapping and wiring you would have to do between each cell charge. to make a little charger like that work on a big pack. Count on more than 2 days of labor to get the battery recharged, each time.

i use 3 charger 200watts each x 3 of them. i have throw a number of imax charger 50watts into dustbin.? why . one day u will noe why

no reason they cannot be used for balancing and use a regular bulk charger to charge up to the point where the pack goes into the balancing current phase. then the imax will provide sufficient current to balance the pack. throwing them away is just absurd.

I still use mine, on the rare occasion I need to actually balance one of my lipo packs. But for charging, I had replaced the 50w chargers with 150 watt ones right away.

I charge 10Ah 24s RC lipo in the time I smoke a cigarette, yet never smoked the batteries.

At 48v, you need only one Meanwell PSU. Take one (or combination) that does it as fast as your cells can be charged. 5C charging rate means you can charge in 12 minutes. I find safer to charge fast, for you are not tempted to leave them charging unattended. Best are PSP or RSP series, and better to buy used genuine Meanwell that new chinese clones.

If you never get them lower than 3.7v and never exceed their discharge C-rate, balancing is only required once or twice in the battery life. I have 2 IMAX 208B collecting dust, that are used only once a year.

Without knowing what kind of 20ah 48V battery pack you have, there's no way to tell what you need. All your info is split up in many threads. Don't expect anyone to know what you have if you start a new thread. A quick search of your post suggest you have a 10ah lifepo4 battery pack. The charger should have came with it and you wouldn't even use an rc charger with it, so what are you doing with an imax B6, which requires a 12V power supply to operate?

Thanks wes. "kind?" it's rectangular.??? NEW thread?? I had a 10ah battery, sent it back got a bigger one. Specify "kind" plz. I don't own a B6, just seeking knowledge and opinions.

Kind, as in cell chemistry type. BMS or no BMS. A quick search shows several different threads about the same thing.
