Ummm.. Started out in Victoria BC Canada, then sta
a radio frequency identification tag (RFID) that is embedded into the frame of a bike. Each tag contains a unique serial number that can be read by the police making the bike, registered owner's details and the bike's status viewable directly on their systems.

So how does the RF get thru the metal of the bike frame?
 
We started putting RF implants on horses 20 years ago, and to this day the readers are yet to be found at most police dept., and 20% of the vet clinics still don't have them. This is like keeping throwing balls, and hope there's gonna be a catcher some day. :|
