Is back pedal regen possible for a front hub motor? How about a left side drive mid drive?

If a motor can do regen it can do backpedal regen, no matter where it is on the bike. Front, rear, mid. Back pedal regen is not a physical thing only a signal based thing, there's no braking force transmitted through the pedals or chain or anything like that. All that happens is a sensor measures the position of the pedal and sends a signal to the controller to initiate regen at an amount relative to how far backwards the pedal has moved. Think of it as having a throttle for regen, except instead of twisting the throttle, you twist the pedals. Backwards.
