Hi,

I've just bought two Izip CB26 bikes, ones a female one the other male.

The motor is labeled MY1018JC-5 and another number 2200805030008 (Ithink). Question is this an MY1018Z 450watt motor or some other variant?

The controller is a 25Amp controller. I have another izip controller and this is a 35A controller. I wondered why the bike would have a lower amp controller?

The 25Amp controller is made in 2008 and has blue print DM- chinese charater 140L.

I've fitted the bike with an ACS 16T southpaw free wheel and I'm getting about 17 mph out of it on two 12volt 12AH SLA's

Regards and any answers appreciated

Looks to be the 250w variant motor.
16T mod limited to 17mph sounds about right. Should hit 20mph with reasonable pedal assist.
350w output required to hit 20mph.

Going back to the 20T, if not destroyed, and upping to 36V, would be the bargain method for 20mph cruising.
(Most 2008 controllers were 24-36V capable - test to confirm!)
250w 24V motor @ 36V = 375w motor output!

Thanks,

you're right the controller is 36 volt capable. I put the controller on another bike which has another my1018Z motor fitted (as a mid drive system) - at 36 volts the bike gets 24.5 mph without pedaling and 27 mph pedaling - 7 speed bike. I'm not sure if the motor is the 450 watt version as it is corroded - unlike the other on the cb26 which is mint

The 20t got destroyed - though I have a spare. I've got to say they are a real pain to get off, I ended up angle grinding groves and sticking it in a vice.

in regard the 250w CB26, with the 16t and 36 volts would I get more speed than a 20t on 36 volts?

Nope, higher gear ratio will drop torque to the point of lower speed capable ...
Unless you supply moderate pedal assist!
Should have some assist to near 25mph.

Good quality (removable) 20 T available >> eZip-iZip-Currie parts-n-such - New model ACS 16 - 18 - 20T

Link also should have MY1018z 24V 450w motor <$100.

36V 16T and 36V 20T will both (likely) produce 20mph ...
But 36V 20T will be in a more inefficient potion of the torque curve.
Might produce 150 - 200% the damaging heat at the same 350w output.
