I got back from a week and a half on the road yesterday so it's now time for the oblig. photo-whore thread. If interested in reading my half-coherent rambles on Japan then you can do so here: http://toshiclark.xanga.com/ . If you want to navigate the galleries yourself and see all the junk that made it past my first round of editing then head over to http://toshiclark.com/ . Otherwise stay tuned for some photos with brief captions below:
Senso-ji temple at Asakusa, Tokyo.
South end of Ueno Park, Tokyo.
Kinkaku-ji ("golden palace"), Kyoto.
Roof detail at Nanzen-ji, Tokyo.
The first sakura cherry blossoms of the season, Ueno Park, Tokyo.
Uma, "wish cards" and paper wishes tied to branches at Heian-jingu, Tokyo.
Flowers outside of Sanjusan-gendo, Kyoto.
Engrish! "Hair make" means they do hair styling and makeup. I have no idea why Crazy Fruit is a Sexy Pub, on the other hand.
Bike related!

Finally, my grandparents (86-year-old grandmother on left, 93-year-old grandfather on right) and yours truly with the wife:
Did I say "finally?" I meant to say that after Japan I headed to San Diego for a conference. A few highlights from walking about the Gaslight district, Balboa Park, and the overpriced but nice Zoo:
Grant Hotel, San Diego.
Orchids at Balboa Park Botanical Pavillion, San Diego.
Zoo animals:
Somehow it seems appropriate to end with this saucy camel:
