I was to install a Kellycontroller on one of my projects and I searched for a video tutorial about how to work all parameters and such, and I was not able to find anyone with complete information.
So, I decided to study deeply the manual and run some test by myself, and finally make a video tutorial. I am not a video expert, but hope the info helps.

You can find it here: https://youtu.be/A_si4IfU5so

It is the first part, I will upload next ones as soon as I finish their edition, will post links on this thread.

Please let me know your thoughts, as well if you have any questions about how to set them up, I think that now I can help.

I just uploaded the second part, maybe the most interesting one (Vehicle parameters)
Here is the link: https://youtu.be/_if9dnVkr6U

As well I uploaded a Spanish version, if someone is interested: https://youtu.be/oLyRELUpOzU

Here are all the links to the Kelly controller tutorial:

GonZo,

In the video, I think you said that you didn't know what the Kp and Ki settings do. I don't know either, but I have a lead.

https://support.controltechnologycorp.com/customer/elearning/younkin/calcKpKi.pdf

I am going to ask around at work what they mean. I may be able to noodle it from the pdf, but I gotta get back to working.

One of our hardware engineers said this when I asked if he knew what they do:
" they tune your controller response to your load. Straight amplification during an accel/decel could cause hunting or overshoot, etc. The derivative and iterative feedback in a loop can help tune the repsonse of the controller to different types of events. Smooth it out, give it the best performance.
If they just give you a couple of settings to tweek, when you get to extremes you will see it take forever to get to speed, or accel/decel very jerky or a number of things. You can just try stuff out but it will take much longer to get what you want. In extreme cases or large systems you could obviously damage something if you just start wildly playing with it.
Try it first to see what it is out of the box."

Thank you Loves80z,

I know what Kp and Ki are, and they come pretty well adjusted from factory as your college says. The issue is that apart from that Torque/Speed Kp and Ki, there is 4 more settings: ID Kp, ID Ki, IQ Kp and IQ Ki.
And those last ones are the ones that I have no idea for what are they for. :?:
I suppose that they are in order to give the user more control about the motor behaviour but no idea how to tweak them and what exactly they do and where... :?:

I have not been able to visit the forum lately due to work and personal projects, and visited today. And I see many posts about Kelly controllers with no answers or partial answers. So I just reply to move this post up, and hope it helps that persons to tune their controllers.

Hi , seen the videos and they explain very well all the basic setup. Muchas gracias
