Fortunately BMSBattery are now shipping the KU123, but I can't seem to get the 3 speed switch working.

Nothing happens at all when flicking between the various positions.

I don't have the electric brake, or pedal sensor connected if that make a dIfference.

Any ideas?

Here is an earlier post about the KU speed switches.

I have found that connecting the green and black together will reduce speed (pwm). Red/blk appears to do nothing. Connecting white to white will also reduces speed. There is talk about whether the connections increases timing or not. I don't see it, not with my controllers. I'd like to get a scope on it one day to see exactly what is happening.

Does your black wire from the rocker switch go to the middle tag on the switch?

I tried shorting the green to black to test if it worked, but nothing seemed to happen.

Am i right to presume that I can use the switch from stand-still?

Ill double check with the switch connections when I am back from work.

The best way to check is to lift the wheel and run it flat out with no load. Then connect the green blk together and do the same thing, you should hear the motor running slower. Try that with the white wires also.
btw you don't need the ebrake or the pedelc sensor. If necessary i will open up my KU123 controller to check that your wires are going to the right pads on the pcb.

Maybe a silly question, but you do have a throttle connected, right? The speed switch works in conjunction with the throttle. The speed switch alone won't run the motor.

Many thanks to everyone who replied.

I presumed that the switch acted as a throttle, clearly this is not the case; as it acts more as a limiter.

High - 24mph
Low - 19mph
White connected - 15mph

Is there anyway to change these settings/speeds? Or is it the case of buying a Lyen controller for example?

I know, it's been some time, but I've just seen your thread now.

You can actually make the switch work as a throttle with 2 settings.
The switch works like this:
Setting 1 bridges wires 1 and 2.
Setting 2 bridges nothing
Setting 3 bridges wires 2 and 3 (I don't know the colors now)
What you do, is
1. you buy two potentiometers or a selection of resistors (somebody here wil be able to tell you, how strong they have to be)
2. you connect wire 2 to +5V
3. you connect wires 1 and 3 each to one potentiometer
4. you connect the other side of the potentiometers to the signal of the throttle input

Then you experiment with different settings for the to potentiometers.
The higher the resistance, the lower the throttle output will be.
And there you go
