Kuberg Free Rider

i personally would love to own an EM, Kuberg, or anything comparable..
& the EM has shown to be very capable in trial competition..
but i have not seen the EM advertised/sold for less than ~$10K..
since that's the same price range of zero, stealth, etc
then i accept that's what these top level ebike/emoto sell for (for now..)
but kuberg is offering significant discounts through the kickstarter campaign..
so for the budget minded maybe this is the place & time to buy..
(if the products meet your needs/expectations..)
looking fwd to a bright future in etrial/etrail bikes!
:)

if you cant wait for the trex then why dont you go for the Em 5.7 There really isnt much price difference ( and I have heard that the 2014 model of the 5.7 is much better than previous versions )

 I wish all the prices of these bikes ( that I have seen ) were in one currency, Im starting to get mixed up between uk pounds, usd and euro's :D ...
I Know of some one how bought one new for around 5k euros , ( $7k )

Kuberg is owned, operated, & manufactured in Czech Republic..
only the USA sales office is in Santa Cruz, CA..
(afaik lfp works for zero.. so that would likely be a conflict of interest..)

When I saw that it was based in Santa Cruz I was hopeful this was a liveforphysics production.

yes, i think EM has come down some in price..
but how much to ship EM to the USA???..
there are no dealers stocking EM in the US, yet? (that i know of)..

I'd buy one for under $3k, I don't mind the look of it.. but I have a feeling they are not going to raise 80grand in 20 days.

yeah, its looking like kuberg may not meet their kickstarter funding goal on time..
but kuberg bikes will still be available, just not at kickstarter discount prices..
but maybe kuberg will try kickstarter again soon???
after all motopeds also did not meet its funding goal on the first attempt..
if the kickstarter campaign is not successful then i will post here some "product development advice"
in case anyone at the company may read this...

If you are interested, be a Backer and Kuberg will be closer to raising their $100grand. If the amount does not get funded, you don't pay. Lets get this done!

Looks like they have got the throttle mapping and power delivery pretty damn good on that bike!! it is not easy to have so much torque yet such good control of it.

this looks really professional in contrast to the freerider

acutally with e-motors it is or should be easy.. with gas engines... not so much  funny thing is.. they solved most of the issues with the really complicated issues of petrol engines within the last century.. sometimes I ask my self if tesla lived in the 80s

most of this stuff could have been done easily with lead batteries and brushed motors..decades ago (actually it was done just forgotten)

Nice vid.. wish I can post up a video of what I have been working on :( but my hands are tied.. as regards keeping control of the torque it is/has been a major problem and its not as easy as anyone would think.

could be wrong but i think kuberg trex is using a golden motor w reduction transmission
kelly controller w anti throttle e-clutch lever..
(at least its predecessor did;)

Yeah, if these guys can make things look like the Trex, what wonked in the look of the Freerider?

Just in case they check in: What happens when you don't make the goal by Sunday? A new effort?

I took advantage of the Kickstarter price and bought two Free-Riders and one Trex. As soon as I get them, I will post a report.

Nice! good to hear they are still giving the bikes at that great Kickstarter price.

I actually contacted them since I tried to buy parts off their website that is still under construction and it gave me all sorts of errors. They were nice and professional. They have since processed my order and also are trying to see if they can still get me in on a free-ride or trex at a good price! Not sure if they read these forums regularly or not, but I am excited to hear back from them after watching a few videos of the products.

looks like i am buying a free-rider too!

Just out of curiosity, you said you were getting the Free riders while waiting for the Trex. But they both seem to be delayed. Have you heard any update?

This is my correspondence with Kelly Knipe of Kuberg USA: How is it going? Will they actually be ready this month? Thanks, Shawn

Response: We are very close to getting them. Below is an email from our CEO from last week to another customer. We really should be getting them sometime next month.

We have finally finished the development of 2015 electronics and we are nearing with the completion of our new factory.
Everything should start to run smoothly again.

We placed the 2015 electronics into production with ETA in 4th week in September.
We are able to dispatch bikes with temporary electronics which can be changed for the final controller later on.

Please let me know if you want your bike asap and agree with the fact that we will send you the final electronics later and you will need to switch the controller or if you want to get the final bike complete from us.

Ya I had a feeling they would do something like this, I'm not sure its a good idea to get one that's not fully ready yet, first they will probably charge shipping on both the bike and the parts after. And then if anything goes wrong with it, they could be quick to point blame at installation error of components.

It seems like he's not even sure if its gonna be at the end of September or end of October

Well its officially October and the company has yet to even inform me of the delays...Looking good Kuberg!

The latest update I got a few days ago:
" We will have bikes soon! I’ll keep you posted! "

Well that's good to hear, I am waiting for him to email me. See if he actually will :) hope its sooner than later

I did a 1/4 down payment only not sure about others.
