Hello, my name is Petre and I'm the founder of Ride Colibri. Four years ago I started working on my own vision for an electric motorcycle with the goal to offer the longest range eMoto on the market at an accessible price.

We got quite some press coverage over the last couple of years since I made my first post here, and after a successful crowdfunding campaign we started delivering our first batch of M22s last summer.

We've already built and shipped 100 motorcycles as part of our founder's batch and we're excited to announce our new DIY kit version of the M22 e-motorcycle - a customizable, partially assembled package that takes only 3-4 hours to complete and ships at significantly reduced costs.

The kit comes with a complete VIN for registration in all US states and other parts of the world.

Components:
  • QS 205 V3 50H 3T 4kW Hub Motor with 17" rim
  • Fardriver ND72450 Controller
  • Foldable frame set and accessories

  • Complete electric and lighting system
  • Battery options detailed below

Cool vehicle, nice that it comes with a VIN.
Has anyone successfully registered it in USA yet? I don't know much about the legal deatils.

What kind of cells come in the battery pack, and what volt/amp hour, btw?

I apologize if this is inappropriate and will delete/edit if it is, but something that would be really nice, would be just a frame kit built to be able to utilize Japanese parts that you could buy on eBay, maybe something that were made to work with CRF250/450 swingarm, shock and forks. That way you can get super high quality Showa suspension that can easily be serviced with parts that are going to be around for a long time. And yes you could buy a bike and convert it, but the VIN is going to present problems in many states/countries.

Yes, most clients successfully registerd their M22 at the DMV, There were some that reached to us for help because the process was a bit more difficult in some states but as far as I know we found solutions for all the cases.

Each battery is rated at 72V 25Ah and is made using LG M50LT cells at the moment. You get a total of 75Ah with the maximum loadout. ( Edited the post to include this info because I missed it)

Attached a drawing containing the swingarm dimensions (mm), you could check if this frame would we a good fit for this project.
Added the width of the swingarm mounting point and the length of the neck.
Note that the rear shock's length is 190mm.

We do not have plans to sell the frame separately, even if that was the case I do not think think we could preserve the VIN number since we would not be selling a complete vehicle.

Nice E-motorcycle! What kind of brake fluid does it use? Specs of the brake system?

This is all the info I could find on the brake system we use:
Brake Fluid: DOT4
Brake fluid tank capacity: 30ml
Brake Disk Size: 180mm Rear, 220 mm Front
Caliper Type: 2-piston hydraulic caliper (front and rear)
Effective brake pad area: estimated at about 1032 mm²
Lever effective travel: measured at 75mm

In addition, the controller is also configured to apply regenerative braking when the brake switch is activated.
We use the Medium Intensity preset but a stronger response can be set using the Fardriver App if you have a bluetooth dongle.

Fardriver is best one out there, with more power and features for a great price. We have tested a lot of brands, including Sabvoton, Votol, BAC etc.

Does the fardriver you use do variable regen? My 96530 don't. VESC is open source and variable regen. There a few vesc models in your power range. Thanks

You can customise your kit - we can offer it without a controller if you prefer VSEC. But fardriver does have variable regen, it's already pre-programed to progressively increase as you decelerate
