LiFePO4 vs NMC nail penetration safety test

I only had one fire in the 4 years of using lithium and that was with a A123 26650 lifepo4 cell. I punctured a hole in it while removing the nickle strip and it went up like a blowtorch. In the video I was expecting the LFP battery to also catch on fire, I was surprise it didnt even get puffed up and it still showed good voltage.
The nmc flat packs look even more dangerous then the 18650 that's for sure. It would be an uncontrollable fire from the beginning.

conclusion: dont use batteries in that are sold in plastic bags.

and for this very reason i refuse to use pouches or even allow them in my shop. if a customer has a rebuild that has them i will either remove them on their property or the customer empties the housing at their own risk.

just the insurance is a nightmare. "no, sir. i was just stabbing a battery and then the whole shop went up in flames."
