Lipo Battery Storage what percent of charge?

Heya all, I am temporarly moth-balling some Turnigy Nano tech bats, and wanted to get the skinny on what percentage they should be charged to for storage of a few months or so.

I have heard people having trouble with Lipo packs being stored at less than than 80%, and my Hyperion recommends around 60 - 70%, but I wanted to hear from the experts here.

Just like pretty much all chargers specify. And just like how they come shipped... 3.85v :)
 
Given the somewhat spotty QC on some lipo, one wonders whether the problems had anything to do with the SOC they were stored at. Maybe they were packs that simply had the clock ticking on thier early death regardless.

3.85 sounds right to me, just like they ship em. If a cell self discharges, it was junk anyway right?
 
Kewl, thanks for the info, just wana make sure I do everything to keep these bats in shape, probably going to give the 2 6s packs to a friend to use on his BMX since he will be going such a short distance and just wants something ultra light (he has physical limitations, and even the average LiFeP04 bat is too heavy for him) and for all my hand-wringing, I haven't had any real problems with my Nano-techs, but since I hear about horror stories about other people's experiences from time to time with LiPo, I don't want to take any chances.

I would have stayed in the LiPo chemistry if they didn't take such a hit in the cold, and so far I am extremely happy with the performance of the A123 20AH Prismatics pack I got from Wojtech, amazing performance, minimal sag, and I might be imagining it, (I haven't had a chance to try them in really warm weather to compare the two) but they seem to pull harder than the nanos, but that could also be because I never have pushed the nano techs, always using them way below their capacity. 8)
 
Did you ever run 20AH of lipo to compare to the 20AH of A123?

If you are talking about a proper 20Ah to 20AH, same C rate comparison, well then that is very impressive on the A123 side.
 
Well, not exactly, because I have 18AH's of Lipo, and 20AH of A123, and it would be more fair to test performance in warmer weather, since the Lipo is going to be hurting more in the cold, but I did notice more sag with the A123, but not in power and acceleration. 8)

Yeah, I have seen the voltage drop more than the Lipos, but not the power, and in the cold, the A123's are much stronger than the Lipo.
