I've got 2x3s lipos (https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__16225__ZIPPY_Flightmax_8000mAh_3S1P_30C.html) that I'm trying to fit side by side in an enclosure, but the space is tight. I'm wondering how much I can bend the wires (pos/neg) before I risk initial or long term damage. If they shouldn't be bent at right angles, about how much space should I give them?

since the terminal conductors are soldered to the tab then you have to consider how much force is exerted on the tab inside the pack since you did not remove it from the shrink wrap and solder directly.

You can bend the wire, but as said above, it better not be putting bending or pulling force on the tabs. You might get what you need by trimming the shrink or the cover plastic on the top of the pack just a bit. An 1/8 inch spacer between packs can also help.

It's not hard to unsolder the big wires from an RC pack, and re solder it at a better angle for your needs. But do use a large tip soldering iron, so you can do it fast with no damage to the cell.

Make sure what ever you are doing does not result in chafing of the wires, that's the big danger, getting a rub that eventually touches positive and negative.

Thanks guys! I don't want to mess with taking them apart, so I'll just look for an enclosure with more room.
