The discussion as to whether a builder should add potting to electronics or use a conformal coating is likely to continue, so please don't argue in this thread. If you are the type of ebiker who likes to repair fried electronics, you hate potting.

And yet, potting also provides some drop protection and anti-vibration properties. Conformal coatings provide moisture protection, while still allowing the owner to swap-in a popped capacitor, which might be a $2 part, saving a $100 controller.

What I hope to accomplish is to compile a list of brands that have been used with success, for both potting goo, and conformal sprays. Thanks in advance for all who contribute...

One I've used is Dow RTV734. This is like regular silicone glue except it's low viscosity and flowable. Good for small areas. It can be brushed over larger areas. It gives off acetic acid during cure so fumes must be vented during cure or can corrode copper. RTV3140 is similar only "electronic grade" and does not produce corrosive fumes during cure. These are both sort of spendy. These are both hard, but not impossible to remove later if you need to rework. RTV is a relatively good heat conductor and can withstand extreme temperatures.
