I understand this has been beaten down many times but I think I'm looking for an older giant anthem xl. As Im 6'3" and just barely over 200 ha ha. I find a couple around a thousand 1200 bucks 2009. I look up I'm Blue Book and an excellent one is $400 used . I don't get the big price discrepancy. Not only that I wonder how wide the rear end is can I fit a muxus 3000 in there. ? Or does anyone have a better suggestion. I need it to look like a mountain bike as I'm halfway between LA and San Diego and one of those Moto's is a little too much of motocycle for the area. And no John I don't want a frankenbike

Um, how about a frankenbike?

But on a serious note. How about asking online on other sites? like Craigslist or facebook, you really won't find anyone here who hasn't already converted such a great bike themselves.

Just have to search images and see for yourself. Probably the best situation is shock mounted vertically from BB of crank to somewhere up on the seat post.

Suggestions, well 3000W mxus is normal rear dropout, so any normal bicycle.
Go steel frame and you can start cutting and steel "gluing" ;) anything geometry that tickles your fancy.

Though I must add that my single speed Norco City Glide has a smaller rear dropout then normal, and yes I just separate them with a flat head screwdriver, got it down to a science with all my flats, key is to use the bolts as leverage point.

You require a enduro style bicycle frame if you want a large ass battery in there.

A Bushido mountain bike from the '80s maybe?

That should be easy to find, right?

How about voodoo canzo. Think it's the version before the one that's out now at halfords in the UK

I also live in California and have been looking for a decent priced used full suspension bike to put my Mac Rear hub that is laced up to a 650b rim.
It has been over a year of searching Craigslist and I am finding the people who paid $ 1500 - to nearly $ 3000 for their FS bikes 8-10 years ago are listing them for over twice often even 3 x what they are worth. ( in California Used Cars, Bicycles , and many other items are most often advertised at 3x what they are really worth )
I see the same bikes on Craigslist for months, sometimes listed over and over again for a Year !

If I was to use the Mac 4kg motor or a 2-3 kg motor I would look for a Anthem,
However
If I had the DD MXUS 3000 I would get a Giant Trance / Glory / Reign , instead of the Anthem.

Do you have the MXUS laced into a 26 inch rim ?

Other options are the Specialized Enduro , Big Hit , Demo 8 , FSR .

If you can find one sometimes people with the older Cannondale Super V bikes sell them at the price they are worth, $ 400 and under. Look for one with the unified rear swing arm and disc brake tabs, there were just a few years the Super V had that kind of swing arm before that they had the style of swingarm that the bikes like the Santa Cruz Superlight, Bantam, Bullit , etc has. which I would not put a heavy hub motor on.

John in CR has a great example of what can be done with an older Cannondale Super V, he through out the bicycle rear swingarm and had a custom motorcycle like swing arm made, at the same time lengthening the wheelbase.
I think Voltron in Santa Barbara Ca. has done something similar .

When looking for a used bike keep in mind that Specialized was ahead of its time with rear dropouts and spacing, ... Meaning going back to 2012 Many or Most of any of their bikes that you would want to convert to an e-bike no longer had the older standard 135mm spaced 10 mm dropout, by 2012 they went to Through axle Frames, Good for non motor riders, but that leaves them out of contention for a e-bike that has a rear hub.
