Can anyone recommend a really good set of bicycle tire levers? I just spent about 2 hours wrestling a tire off one of my rims and I'm sick of dealing with the cheap plastic levers I got from Walmart.

I've also learned that rhyno lite rims have very high sidewalls on them. Some tires are a real bitch to get off of them.

I have used these for years and find them very strong http://www.parktool.com/product/tire-lever-set-tl-1

I use the park tool heavy duty levers quite frequently on the hookworms we have on our bikes at work. I have broken every other kind of lever out there so I can't recommend these enough

I always figure you cant beat the old teaspoons :) or paint can openers, they work real well, you wont bend one of those.

I ended up ordering a set of the cheaper Park levers. I may have to spring for the heavy duty ones soon though, it would be handy to have them just in case.

Paint can opener, huh? I never even thought about that. I bet it would work well. How do you keep it from scratching the rim though?

I keep it old school. Big flat blade screwdriver.

Yeah, it trashes the rim. They work great, however.

I was getting so pissed the other night that I almost went for a big screwdriver. I decided against scratching up my pretty new black rims though. lol

I also use these with Hookworm 2.5in mounted on them, i broke one of those park tools getting the tire on the rim
i wouldnt recommend them...Go with steel and live with the scratched rims, least you get your tire on/off and back on the road.

I've seen a lot of people talking about these rims like that. The only good thing is that I generally use cheap-o beach cruiser tires and they actually seem a bit oversize and are very easy to get off pretty much any rim. I will, however, pick up a set of steel ones very soon. I hate screwing around with a tire for that long.

What pissed me off is that I thought I was pretty good at getting tires off. You know, move the beads to the center of the rim and it's fairly easy to get them off by hand. Not this damn tire! I finally had to walk away before I threw something across the garage.

Know what ya mean, when i could use my legs i could get a tire
on or off without tire levers now though, its a freakin drama
every time i need 3 wrenches for these Hookworms on the Lite rims
still with all that, i wouldnt have any other type of bicycle rim/tire combo
for street riding, super strong rims and super sticky well fitting and wearing tire ;)

p.s even harder to get on are solid tires (no inner tube) i use on my wheelchair it is a two person 4 screw driver job and thats
with both people using ALOT of force!
