Low Cost Noob Programmable 1000W motor controller

Hey all,
I have spent hours and hours now on the forum looking at different controllers, and can only say I am more confused than ever. So many choices and prices going up into the thousands of dollars!
I have a 1000W BLDC trolling motor for a canoe with a dead cheapo Chinese controller on it. I want to get motor going asap.
This is what I am looking for:

1> I would like to replace the dead controller with something around or preferably under $100USD that has possibly got some ability to configure it via PC or Android.
2> Would prefer something that is waterproof or can be made easily waterproof. It is going on a boat after all. :wink:
3> Something that I could learn something about these controllers (I eventually want to work my way up to a multi kilowatt electric boat)

Can anyone recommend something I can order and get in the next couple of weeks?
Also any recommendations on getting started with programming these things. All the threads I have read assume a significant amount of previous knowledge.

Are you sure it's a brushless and not a brushed (most low power trolling motors are brushed AFAIK) motor?

It is definitely brushless. It has a cheapo 1000W brushless controller on there right now, plus it has Hall sensor wires.

Do the KT motors have the ability to be put into reverse with the flick of a switch? I looked at them on Aliexpress and they don't seem to have a reverse option.
Also, where is the best place to buy the KT's... is there a decent US based source?

Can I assume there is not a dedicated watercraft controller also. Please help if you know of one
