MAC controller needed

Hey!
I need help finding a controller for a MAC 130153 geared hub motor. Its a Rabbit Tool/Sanyo.
Looks like Giant had it running @26v/250w. I didn't get the batt pack, guy I bought it from didn't
know where they could be... and would be 699 a piece from Giant
to purchase the LIP0 batts new online, w/o charger. Only 26v and 9ah, for that much!
The controller is currently pedal assist, so no throttle
control and limited to 15mph. I've read other posts of this bike being lame like that. But the deal I got was worth the motor
and nexus 8 sp internal rear hub.
Motor is stamped MAC 130153. I figure it has to have another controller that would work at 36V, given the motors
most likely been used in other applications..
Anyone...? Cell Man? EbikesSF? or ebikes.ca?

That's not a MAC brand motor..
Generally all controllers will work on all motors if they are the same type.

Is this 3 phase (brushless)? does it have hall sensors?

I believe I know this model - it's replaceable (if I 'm right with any number of low cost controllers if it's failing)... can you post pics of the controller, the other side of the motor hub and anything else relevant ?

The motor is brushless w/hall sensors. Not sure if they are 120 or 60 degree.
I spent a bunch of time looking up Rabbit Tool and didn't see anything that looked like what I have.
I am easily fooled though when it comes to pics on the 'net.
I saw the stamp on the motor said MAC, so I figured it may be that they made it for Sanyo, who
licensed the design from Rabbit Tool. I'm grasping here, I know.

I didn't see any relevant fixes, so I am brimming with anticipation. I was put off by the stock replacement
of Batts and charger from Giant Bikes. As i have had time to look, I started to gain hope, maybe this can happen.

I have an extra 36v Amped Bikes brushless controller, and some SLA's waiting to be used.
Hopefully I get some good news here! Could that work on this setup with the right Hall timing?


Here' the pics, I will pull out the controller and take some more pics too. It supposedly works, but
its limited to 15MPH, and wires going to the crank/bottom bracket area. No throttle.
The bike deceived me at first, it has a bell, that looks like a little throttle knob, on the handle bars. BUT NO.

The last picture just above. You can see a hole in the box, and inch or so below the tag with the numbers.
That hole has a small , potentiometer of some sort. It's an adjustment for something.

I have not hooked up a battery to this yet, I figured I would blow the controller at 36v,
if it doesn't have a high v cutoff.
Also it being a 26v controller, yes 26v, if I did run it at 24v, my time would be far too limited
by the low voltage cutoff. Gotta love hair brained ideas of proprietary silliness. I still like Giant though.

Let me know what you think that pot adj may be in there.

You could try the ampedbikes controller but the hall and phase wiring will be an absolute mystery for you to discover. I think there are a hundred different combinations of wires or more.

That's your first problem.

Here's another thing about the ampedbikes controller though, if it's for the DD, then it puts out 22 amps. This is likely too much for those tiny phase wires and a motor that is that small, i think you could cook it. You would need a controller more along the lines of 12a-18a.

In my opinion you should ditch this motor if you have the cash to throw around and upgrade to something like a big bafang or MAC/BMC geared motor. They will output twice the power of these motors and give you much greater top speed.

I was worried about the current flow on that motor with the Amped bikes controller running it.

As far as the Hall phase, I'm not above trying the 36 or so combinations, or the bread board technique would be best for this.
I was hoping someone else may have successfully reworked one of these by now (Giant Twist DX/W).
It's really for the wife.. or her second one, whichever is finished first, she has two in the works....

Anyway..
This is all on a low budget, I get pieces of the ebike puzzle slowly to keep from getting what I don't need.
Build whatever I can machine with limited tools.
If I can get it (bike) to work and install a throttle and figure out what the adjustment knob on the controller
I have for this bike, I'm hoping it's a mph limiter.
I'm not looking for performance on this one, just working.

Would Rabbit Tools know anything about this motor if I tried to contact them?
I've read they're hard to get a hold of.
Since it is their design licensed and produced by Sanyo and put on Giant, I wasn't sure
if I could get any kind of answer from them.
