Yep, you were right, took the pot off and at its lowest it measures 0.00 resistance....bugger. So now I have to follow the trace until I find the resistor responsible for the 2.38k resistance and exchange it for a lower value resistor like maybe 1.5k? That would give me some more control with the new pot...or just put the old one back in.

well if you trace it back...and find no other connections on that line...the resistor just goes to another trace with no ofshoots before the resistor, then i would try to change it..ootherwise, not sure

Many times, theresistance range that cover the pot is not enough to cover the entire possible range.. they often limit the range with one or two resistor in serie with the pot.. By replacing the pot with a pot value that have the entire serie resistance you will be able to cover wider range of voltage. Some PWM circuit will aloow that.. some not..... it worth trying.

BTW.. volume pot are logarithmic.. so it will work.. but the adjustement range and precision will be affected... I sugegst linear potentiometer.. check for some cheap home lightning reostat.. they are linear and easy to get... but any audio pot will not work as you expect.

Well I now have a range of 0.00 to 3.2k resistance, I thought that I would just change the pot and see what happened.

Can't try out just now as the power lead is powering the TV which the other half is watching....got to find another power lead lol.

Well it works

I can get from 50Volts up to 80 Volts just by turning the 10K pot I soldered in

I will replace the pot with a resistor for accurate results.

And that was without changing any other resistor?

Wonder if the reason you could not get lower volts before was either a faulty pot...track dirty etc...or a dry joint, poor soldered joint, causing a higher than usual resistance..hence the inability to get a lower voltage before.

Anyway success.

Now you know it works, think of buying a new pot the next time you put an order in for other stuff, and get a multi turn ( 20 or more turn cermet trimmer type pot, then you can get really accurate accurate adjustment

That's a good idea, think I will set it to a low voltage and test it on my lipo setup to see if it shuts off at that voltage ok.

if you are prepared to fiddle then you 'may' be able to get one of fechters mini Meanwell limiter boards to tie into it too, but you should prob start a new thread or go to another suitable thread for that.
