Hi All,

As you are probably aware, I've been putting together an electric Longboard with my son. Part of the build included the designing of the MiniWiiceiver. I have been working with Austin to ensure it is compatible with his software. I wanted to make the MiniWiiceiver compact, surface mount for reliability and expandable for the DIYers that want to include their own add-ons.
Some of the features I've included are;
  • Dual PWM outputs for controlling two ESCs
  • Headers for I/O and serial port pins
  • On-board LC power line filter
  • I2C outputs for extended I/O devices
  • Analog inputs
  • Digital outputs
  • All pads silk-screened for convenience
  • Integrated Wii Receiver connector
  • Mounting Holes
  • 1.5"x1.0" in size

The prototype batch consists of about 35 boards that are available to testers who can put them through their paces prior to finalising the design. It would be good to get feedback after five to ten hours of solid use.

The regular price of the board is US$45.00. The tester price is $35.00

One minor issue with the prototype boards is that the silkscreen for the serial port pads is reversed end for end. That is, the DTR label is against pin one rather than pin 6.

If you want to be a beta tester, contact me at support2009@homanndesigns.com or by PM on this forum.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi All,

Just a quick image to show how small the MiniWiiReceiver is. This image shows the test fit into the electronics enclosure I'm building.

Hi,

It's not Delrin it's High Density Polyethylene . Acetal ( Delrin) machines far nicer. Also the cost of the Acetal to make the enclosure would be around $300. A bit too much for my pocket.

As to the time, I'm not sure, maybe 45 minutes to an hour.

Hi,

Due to the number of inquiries I've had, I've set up this page here to make the process a bit simpler;

Hi Ben,

Thanks. It's on it's way. I should have the schematic up on the website later today.

Cheers,

Peter

Here it is, so chuffed with it.

I've had it wired up and it ran perfectly first time, no problem at all. Now i've taken everything apart to remake my enclosure's because everything is so small :D

This is all my electronics, minus the battery of course. Mini Wiiceiver, mini Alien ESC, and power switch all sitting together, barely bigger than a matchbox for all 3. Things have come a long way since I started poking around here :)

Hi,

what is the correct way to plug the wii receiver ? I got two slots .. just don't know the orientation neither the slot. I am running twin motor. what is JP1 & JP2 ?

I switch on the power... then press S button on the nunchuck... nunchuck starts blinking ... ESC starts its beeps... but then one of the motor starts spining by itself... other is not moving, nothing happens when I move the nunuck stick.

Hi Okp,

Plug in the Wii Nunchuck's Receiver end onto the Nunchucy red device with the rubber end of the Wii Nunchuck's Receiver on the top. Without this plugged in - it will beep regardless.

The beep simply means the motors/esc cannot find the transmitter (handheld controller/wii nunchuck).

JP1 and JP2 is where the ESC Signal wire is plugged into. Negative/Brown on the left side.

Then power on your board and turn on your controller. Throttle upwards to test if the Wii Nunchuck is now connected.

Another batch of boards fresh out of the pick and place machine, ready to be programmed and tested.

This batch is all taken.

That looks awesome! I will be getting one in the next few weeks

Hey Guys,

Just a quick note. For those that have been emailing, the MiniWiicever is now back in stock.

If you need a Nyko remote, you can bundle that with the MiniWiicever.
