I am making a 20ah 12s pack out of 12 packs of 5ah 4s turnigy packs. I want to remove the jst connectors and use a different connector so I can connect all 4 strings in parallel but do not trust jst connectors loosing their connection and possibly mess up charging. I was going to just solder all the wiring together on a breadboard I have but would rather have some kind of connectors to easily disassemble the pack if needed.

There's a lot of choices. Years ago I needed to use a specified connector for a contract job and got the proper hand crimp tool. I just stuck with using that same connector for like 10 or 15 years now. Still available, good quality, reasonable cost, many pin counts. Not weatherproof and not good for panel mount. Check 'em out. Molex mini-fit jr. I have replaced those JSTs with the mini-fit jrs a number of times. I think they're like 2 or 3 times the Amp rating.

Thanks, that looks like a good connector. What crimping tool do you use? I have one for a 2 or 2.5mm, would these need a 4.2mm one? Or does it work with crimps that are for awg sizing?

Did a Google image search and found it. Was kinda pricey but I needed quality fast work tool. Had many to do on that job. I saw many less costly tools which no doubt will work. Some require two squeezes. I use mostly AWG 22 - 20, some 24 or 18. Pin removal tool is worth it unless you never make mistakes.

Edit: Taking a second look at the tool in the link mine is different inasmuch as it has spots 20-22 & 24-26. But the frame and pin holder are the same.
