Hello everyone!

Before I ask my questions I will give some specs on what I’m running now on my E bike. Battery 84v 20amphour sabvoton controller running at 60amps. The BMS 60a. The rear hub motor I’m using now is 1500w csc with Statrade and HubSink’s. My top speed is 50 mph on flats which is plenty fast and obviously I can’t hold that for long using a1500w motor.

Everything is running smooth but I’m looking for a motor with more torque! My goal is to increase the torque and not lose too much top speed. So I’ve done tons of research looking at all the different brands of motors and I’ve narrowed it down to the maxus 3000w 5T. At first I was looking at the QS205 5T but that motor is way too heavy for my mountain bike. So it looks like the mxus is the best option for a Standard mountain bike that’s NOT in an Enduro frame E bike or the stealth bike frames kit.

My main question is what do you think the the speed would be with the mxus 5T at 84v 60amps? As of now I’m running a 27.5” wheel but I would consider running the 26” but no smaller because I want to keep it more suited as a mountain bike.
And yes I tried to The simulator but it glitches with my iPhone. I’ve tried countless times

If anyone has suggestions for different motors that would be great!

Edit: i’m considering buying the motor from elecycles unless you guys have a better suggestion?
Thanks!

I can't tell what speed you'd get, but as you already found out the simulator https://ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html does the job. If it doesn't work with your phone try it with your or whoevers computer :)

I understand your decision with the mxus 3k. The weight and the size of the qs205 were the same reason i bought a mxus 3k.
But maybe you could take a look about the different windings. Here is a question i asked once about it and got great answers.

Nice, so what winding did you go with? How’s the torque?it

sound like we have similar situation except the wheel size.

Single speed?

I bought the 3t version because i had no idea that there are different versions :D
But i guess if i'd buy a new one i'd buy a 4t (if there is one from mxus) because it needs less power to geht same torque and i don't really need the better top speed of a 3t. I mean a bike is not safe to use for 70 mph or more anyway ;)
In my case the acceleration is much better that i expected and it lifts up the front wheel as soon as you twist the throttle a bit. So it does powerwheeles... But its less the motors credit but the controller and battery's one.

The official information also says you can take a 6 speed freewheel. I took the SHIMANO MF-TZ500 and it works fine 1081258261762373308.jpg

Yeah 70 mph is insane for a bicycle. Riding at 50 mph I feel like I’m going so fast but the bike feels really stable. I think I’m going to buy the 5T and I’m hoping the top speed would end up around 45 mph or so. Once I installed my 72 V battery/84 V fully charge I was completely blown away by the top speed being 50 mph considering I have some cheap Chinese hub, well they’re all cheap Chinese Hubs Lol

Yeah unfortunately it looks like I’ll have to use a single speed
No, i took a 6 speed freewheel and it works fine.
I even got it in my standart 135mm dropout ;)

Nice! That’s very encouraging for me to hear because that’s the only thing holding me back, I don’t wanna lose my gears. I enjoy peddling sometimes well most of the time I’m using it as a motorcycle. I ride on Greenway a lot as well and I always pedal through there or on mountain bike trails. Well nothing too crazy on mountain bike trails because of the heavy hub motor. So most of my riding is throttle only but not at fast speeds normally sidewalks cutting through neighborhoods etc. I try not to ride on the streets too much when there’s a lot of cars and jump on the roads when there’s no traffic.

I’d like to see a picture of your motor in your bike if you have time to post a pic. Did you ever build the bigger battery you were talking about from your original post? My battery is only 20 amp hour so I think the 5T would also work better with that. I don’t think I have the battery for a 3T plus I don’t really need that much TopSpeed anyway. Yeah I read some useful stuff in your original post. I was unaware that the 3T would require more battery but it makes sense now.

Edit: What size wheel did you end up using? Sounds like you have a mountain bike as well..

Where did you buy your motor at? i’m considering buying from https://www.elecycles.com/mxus-3000w-motor-brushless-electric-bike-rear-hub-motor.html

Here we go, pictures below.(i grinded out the logo and painted it. The scratched part is because the brake grinded some paint of )

No, i haven't built any battery pack yet, but that's the next step on my list because it allows you to create exactly the specs you want or need. Mine is quite weak, but as i set the wrong settings and the bms didn't secure the battery i know the mxus 3k can do powerweelies.. but now that o know better i won't harm my battery again and build a stronger one. But anyway, if you want to keep your battery for shure or use a similar one one day, more windings might be a good idea. But as far as i know, the amps per hour tells about the range you get but the bms/discharge rate tells you how many amps you can push continuous or peak. So that's the max power you should be prepared for. When i started the original post i already had bought a mxus 3k in a 26 inch rim but wanted to build a bike with a qs205. But i finished the mxus project first. Long story short - i've 26 inch ;)
I bought my mxus in the 26 inch rim on aliexpress. Its a good price but takes about a month to deliver.

I used to have a mxus 3000 turbo 5t in a 26" wheel. On 72v with about 60-70a and 250pa, I could max out around 43mph on an eeb frame.

Thanks for sharing the pics!
That’s great you have six gears I’m going to try the same. Think I will order tonight and I’m going with the 5T. I’ve been playing with the simulator but I can see that the 5T uses way less power at lower speeds so hopefully it should help with the range. Being that I ride at lower speeds most of the time.
