Hello everybody:). That's my first post on this forum:).
So let's go:
This my personal non hub conversion. Typically I used a geared non hub my1016z3 engine.
Sorry, but I lost somewhere pictures, but I have few you-tube movies this stuff:).
to operating I used typical driver from a Chinese eskuter. The voltage its 24V and the end of amperage it is 20A.
Also i was using a 2x12V22ah SLA batteries. This stuff is really heavy, so now I try using li ion battery, but I decide to install this in a new project (pictures soon).
There is a links to movies:

This is some technical look on the bike's construction.

And there we are some fun:) Riding:)
Average speed its about 33 35 km/h on the flat ground. When I was riding back sped was about 27-28 km/h.
And the end: sorry for my English, I,m not native speaker;).
toft.
PS. What should I do If I want to see youtube screen-shot? Now there are links...?

I fixed your video links:

not too quiet, but it seems to work well :D

i must say, that second video must have been some of the best camera man skills of the ebikes ive seen, most have been a guy holding it in one hand and riding with the other... did you make up a mount for the camera or what? seems like you had some fun on it, any chance of offroad vids?

Well, yes this engine (exactly the gear box) are not too quiet. Truly, is loudly:). This one of the biggest problem witch this stuff to me.

Yes, its mounting on the handlebars by tripod pad from photo (I don't know how this part is in English). You can see this pad on the first movie, when I pushing throttle. Now all setup is removed, because i have new project (the same idea, but full suspension bike, and li-ion). But I have some movies from park riding etc. Maybe this is not real off-road but... :). I'll put this on youtube after few days (I'll must re-compress this)

And "off road" riding;) This is some saturday riding to old mine. There is a mineral water source

Maybe last movie has worst quality then two first movies. To the last I was using Movie Maker. Before Virtual Dub. In Movie Maker the final movie size was smaller, so probably there is higher compression.
Camera it's Canon Digital Ixus 860IS and I come from Poland :)

Hi

Great video and a great bike as well, good performance and decent speeds, trip looks nice and fast as well what batteries are you using?

Nice job but for your next build I'd try to source a quieter motor/gearbox combo. Maybe a belt first stage like the drives Matt's selling?:

Hi knoxie, thanks:). Battery, unfortunately (heavy, not good energy profile when you taking 1c), its 2x12V22Ah SLA. When you taking 1c (about 20A), its mean riding with full throttle, real battery capacity is about 0,6c. So you have only about 13ah. Typical range on this batteries with full throttle is about 17-18 km. Once I try riding economically, up to 20km/h, and then I have 33 km range.

Hi, MitchJi, thanks, too:).
Well yes, I was thinking about some new engine, something not so loudly. I have some ideas:). "Matt's selling", you mean Matt Schumaker (sorry if the surname is not correct)? This is this guy witch has, a black Velokraft carbon recumbent, right? Well, yes its very interesting solution but for me this solution has some problematic points (or maybe not?).
First, i live in Poland. Its mean mailing via ocean:). So, Matt sending to Europe? But maybe its good PM question to Matt:) The second: motor from rc models... Well yes of course we have some Taiwan shops like a hobbycity (good prices) and of course in Poland in rc shops I can buy this stuff too (the price is twice or more than Taiwan). But what about driver? Rc models drivers rather not have possibility to plug throttle like to bike?
Could You maybe know what is cost this Matt's eDrive? Truly I was thinking about making something like this but using my1016 (or other with my10xx family motors) without gears inside. For me its more simply because i can buy this motor and driver to him in Poland.
So now we have some good questions:).
Well on this time I show two candidates on the my new e-bike conversion:). Choice is hard:).
First, new fast and furious:)
kros.jpg

I bought this one on allegro (something like ebay), cost about 200 $.

Second, fast too, but very good to chi-lout, relaxing riding:)

This home made recumbent has more possibilities of motor setup mounting:). Maybe somewhere under seat:)

I like the simplicity, and it sounds pretty cool to hear you changing gears!

One thing though, is your throttle hooked up in reverse? Aren't you worried about your weight being flung forward in emergency breaking making you increase the throttle?

O yes:), like on a motorbike;)

Yes throttle is reverse, because i put it on left side handlebar. The effect is, you can hear this sound when I changing gears. It is possible because i turn off a little, for a moment, throttle using left hand and in the same time I can change gear using right hand. I decided that throttle was on the left because I mostly using gears on the rear wheel. Putting throttle and gearing throttle (its the second reason - I have a Sram) on the right hand will be very uncomfortable for me. And the last... I have newer problem with accidental turn on throttle by the time when I was using front brake lever. Maybe the reason is then I cut throttle, so more then half grip is normal gum grip and only rest is the throttle (the same operation I done for my right hand gear throttle because -yes:)- I had this type accident, but then was may years ago on the normal bike:)).
Regards, toft:)
By the way, fine photos from Africa:)
ow... I was thinking about putting my new battery pak in main frame triangle too...

Hello again:). After few months when I have not to much time I back to my new build project.
Before I was thinking about fully bike or my recumbent rebuilt, but I was decided that on this time the most practically will be using the same bike, so the base its still my old hard-tail. One of the reasons it's big place on the battery in main frame triangle.
Because I have occasion to buy at good price (too me) small hub motor the first difference its a motor (before my1016 z3 non hub motor).
I do not exactly now what brand it is. Supplier tells that is a Bafang, but it looks rather like Cute motor from bmsbattery site.
So maybe some photos from building:).

Bike without my saddlebags
rowerek.JPG

And finish work
In this time I have battery inside my saddlebags. Driver was inside too. That was uncorfortable (battery was on the one side of bike and I have less space for my things. So I decide to put battery in main frame triangle.
Unfortunately motor had a fault... Ball bearing on the axle was fixed non axial.
_DSC7965.JPG

This is a effect - broken freewheel.
My supplier gives me new one.
rowerek2.JPG

Thats a look with battery bag.
On this time i put also driver to this battery bag. (On the picture driver is still on the rear).
rowerek3.JPG

TO control battery parrameter I used turnigy meter.
watmetr.JPG

Battery story:).
Because I need some cheap option I decided on the home made li-ion battery.
The base it is typical laptop li-ion 18650 size cell.
paluszki.JPG

These aren't new but have about 85% or more of nominal capacity.
But thats cheap. About 3-5 Pln - one USD its about 3.2 Pln.
First conception it was a 8s12p pack. I decided to use 8s because my charger has 8s option as a max.
in this configuration capacity was about 21Ah (real) and 26,4 Nominal. I was bulking cells up to 4,05V (nominally max is 4,2V per cell) And riding as long as I had about 3V per cell under load (typically it is about 10 to 20 A).
This is a picture of my battery:
bateryjka.JPG

All will be good, but the speed...:)
On about 30V was too slow:).
So I decide to put them next 4s, so each other 12s12p. Unfortunately my triangle bag was too small so finally I have 10s12p. Speed now is rather okey for me. Of course Now I have bigger problem with charging. To charging I must reconfigured battery to 5s24p system. But is only few seconds.
The works on the future...
I should do something with cables it is non esthetically.
On this time big problem it is the wheel typically I losing one spoke per 10 km.

Summary:).
After baby time problems bike riding good. For me important is that motor is not loudly. When I riding behind cars its looks like typical bicycle.
Li-ion battery is fantastic, before I was using SLA that was other world:). All battery has less then 6 kilos.
and All konwersion kit (engine driver battery) less then 10 kilos.
Money...:)
The cost of engine and driver was 530 PLN, battery cost it was les then 500 PLN. I had throttle and bought to this stuff Turnigy wattmeter - cost - 120 PLN. Cables and connectors thats about 100 PLN. So Summary its about 1200 - 1300 PLN (about 400 USD).

thats a fine build for 400 bucks, and you got great ah.
