Time will tell, I suppose.

What pressure were you running? And how was the handling of those Black Floyds?

100_4880.jpgThat was a good read. Didn't know DrBass torque arms were THAT big, still think I could grind out a suitable torque arm for 48v1000w. Some say you don't even need torque arms with 48v1000w on a steel frame.
See that DP420 again, do you really need a special applicator to apply that stuff?
Thanks for all the tire and wheel info, my beast is just waiting to be electrified.

Mines going to be off-road with a Bafang BPM2 48v500w. Anyone used this hub before? Do they hold up well?

I hope a 195mm spoke is right for a two cross lace of this beast rim (549mm ERD, I think) to the Bafang. I've never ordered new spokes for a wheel build before and I don't feel confident with my calculations. Another member did this build and "thinks" he used the same hub motor with a spoke length of 7 5/8" (193.79mm).
Can anyone verify? Bafang drawing looks like 158mm spoke flange pattern diameter, flanges 35.5mm apart. Spoke holes on rim are staggered 19mm either side of center. Anyone have a link to a really simple spoke calculator. I think I'm having terminology issues. HA!

Have you had a chance to accumulate any miles on the Vee Rubber replacement tire? If so, how is it working for you?

I've been using a pair of Origin8 Captiv-8er 26x3.5" tires on my fattest bike-- those are the fattest I can fit in there. The same tread pattern and size is also marketed as the Sun Crusher and Vee Rubber Speedster, with varying casing construction and prices.

I like them pretty well. The highest inflation pressure I can use before the rear tire begins to rub on the frame is about 17psi. At pressures much below that, the front tire wants to roll affirmatively into a turn but takes some effort to straighten back out.

Soon I'll dimple the chainstays to buy more tire clearance, and then I can reevaluate the tires at higher pressures. At super low pressure they seem like great off-road tires, but they're a little slow and awkward-handling for street use. Hopefully that changes for the better without having to use so much pressure that ride quality becomes harsh.

Man...did I get lucky here...the 2.5" rim with the Black Floyds fit the Zombie-500 like a glove! Had the supplier sent me the 3" rim that I had originally ordered...I would've been SOL...

Now wheres that threadless headset I ordered????

What headset did you use to convert it from 1" threaded to 1 1/8 treadless?
