I crossed over the Golden Gate Bridge today. This was quite a landmark for me. It was a beautiful day and I could see Alcatraz, other bridges, the Presidio and all of San Francisco. I've traveled 900 miles down the pacific coast and the Ecospeed motor has managed it all. One day's ride from Standish-Hickey campground over the Leggett hill to Mackerricher campground ended with 4200 ft of climbing. I still had some juice left too.

I'll take a break here for a few days before heading out again riding to Los Angeles.

Hi Sylvia

Welcome to the Bay Area!

I'm in San Jose. If you are in need of any electric bike service, I can help with wiring or battery issues you might have. Just let me know.

We're all so jealous. I never have had the chance to drive that road, let alone ride it.

Sylvia,

How was the Pacific coast road in terms of having a safe shoulder to ride on? From the bits of it I've seen in movies and on TV it looks fairly twisty.

regards,
Bill

you're an inspiration... speechless, enjoy the trip and thanks for sharing!

Congratulations! I rode the Pacific Coast (Vancouver - Tijuana) in 2007 and Legget hill was my favourite part of the whole trip. What a beautiful area. Enjoy San Francisco and the rest of your ride.

Congrats on your progress thus far! I hope to be on the road soon too! Thanks for sharing, I will have to make sure I don't leave too much out for the raccoons to fight over, very funny story. :D

Bill - Most of the route north of San Francisco has a shoulder. Sometimes it is skimpy but traffic was patient. Sonoma County could really add some room to their roads. Luckily, there are lots of slow traffic turnouts to pull into as well. The entire route is being repaved and much of it is smooth as butter. Next summer will be a glorious time to ride. Thanks for the message.

Just found your website Sylvia. Amazing! Great to see you doing it and great to see you on endless-sphere! I'm very jealous...

About 2 years ago I was on a motorcycle trip in Arizona and I stopped at an information center, near the famous ice cave. We somehow got talking about bikes (because we were on the motorcycle) when the woman mentioned a woman who was riding a trike from portland who came through that area, and stopped to charge up her bike.

This wouldn't happen to be you would it...
