Seems there is a new breed of Lipos emerging 8) They give 4 x more cycles than normal lipos so thats like 2000+ cycles, and can be charged at a 5c rate, so a 10-12 min charge time

still, quite expensive, but not so much when lifespan is factored in, but that will change when the tec filters down, Lipo just keep going from strength to strength.

$160 for a 5s 5000mah battery is twice what I pay for lipo currently, but if it realy does last 4 times as long, then its realy half the cost of what I'm paying now. Nice. I wonder what the size and weight of these is compared to my 615 gram Zippys?

They say 740grams. I think this is great news for us Ebikers, now if we can just convince someone to build a 48 volt charger/balancer for these cells.

These need testing.

(I say that because these vague claims aren't substantiated by tests and there's incentive for "misleading" statements like, comparing the cycle lifetime of these under ideal conditions compared to the cycle lifetime of 25C LiPo under the worst conditions. I can imagine what would be a normally 2x lifetime improvement could be stretched to "4x" with misleading comparisons.)

Compared to an average of the batteries on market last year, they provide up to up to 4x more cycles under the same discharge conditions.

So I assume from this, they give 4x the cycles like for like whatever the discharge conditions, but agree in an ideal world we would have test data to back up the claims  It will be interesting to keep an eye on the rc forums to see how they get on, an ebike application the batteries are given an easy life, where ducted fans and 3d helis they are pushed to and beyond the limits. I'm going to try out one of the 2600mah packs in my heli/ducted fan, so I'll try and log the cycle life, see if it lives up to the hype ;)
