I have a 2006 Prius that I think has a failing battery. I want to save money and recondition or replace it myself as the car value is under 2k and services want that much to replace the hv pack with a reconditioned one. So here are my questions
1. My car has 200k on it does it need a whole new reconditioned pack from a service that specializes in this or can I buy a used low miles pack from junked car in which case I'm concerned about loss of capacity in the pack from it sitting around.
2. Who is a trusted source for reconditioned packs for gen 2 Prius and which of the three options should I pursue. A.is it worth paying 2k for a 3y warranty pack made with newer than 2009 cells or should b. I go with the 18 month warranty pack at 1,300 c. 6 month warranty pack for 1k?
3. If it is worth attempting to fix my pack at the cell level, what process do I need to follow? Some on YouTube just look for low open circuit voltage cells and replace, while others test under load, replace bad cells , drain and charge All cells learning each cells and balancing all to same voltage. I'm not sure how far I have to take this for a good chance of success
3. What tools testing charging equip do I need to pull this off and what's that all going to cost?
