Two days ago while riding over a really bad and bumpy road my throttle got stuck on (Wide Open Throttle) WOT. Fortunatly I switched the controller to PAS mode and I've been able to keep riding my ebike.

It's a 48v Crystalyte Half Twist Throttle.

About a month ago I had my bike parked at a train station and I was standing next to it. All of a sudden some woman ran by and knocked it over and cracked the throttle open and scratched it up. I repaired it with some epoxy glue and up until 2 days ago it had been working fine.

I haven't opened it up yet to try to fix it. Does anyone have any experience fixing these throttles? Someone told me there is a magnet inside and maybe that got loose. Could that be my problem?

Hmm, if nothing's rattling around, I doubt it's the magnet. I don't know about others, but the magnet in my throttle couldn't move around even if it did come unglued.

Perhaps the hall decided to blow?

Either way, it's an easy fix.

No nothing is rattling inside. So I guess the mangnet most likely isn't the problem.

Hmmm... a blown hall sensor? ... in the throttle or in the motor? If that was the problem wouldn't the the motor not turn or move significantly slower? I've got no loss in speed with the controller switched to Pedal ASsist Mode (PAS).

I could temporarily take off the 48v Half Twist Throttle and put on my original 36v Thumb Throttle to check but I don't want to blow the lights on that thing.

I took an electronics class many years ago and remember something about a voltage dividing circuit using resistors. Do I just put a resistor in series to protect the lights (and what resistance value)?

If you want to try your thumb throttle, it might not blow out the LED. I accidently hooked one of my WE thumb throttles to 48V and the LED was just super bright. But if you don't want to risk the LED (I worry more about the 48V causing a short problem in the throttle than blowing out the worthless LED) just cut the blue/purple (on the WE throttle) wire to eliminate the 48V lead that is just used to run the LED's anyway.

thats happened to me a few times with my throttle, its always been the magnet, i superglued it in the last time and hasnt been a problem since.

The magnet won't rattle even if it comes out of place...

When you open the throttle, you will find a coiled wire( spring thing ) and 2 magnets, if the magnets come out of their spots, they will stick to the metal spring, so no rattle.. but it will give you wacky throttle response

Ah, that would be radically different from my throttle, then. Mine's only got one magnet, and it's encased in such a way as to be separated from the spring and handlebars. Guess it could be the magnet, then. I'd hope it is. Gluing it back into place is easier than replacing the hall sensor in the throttle.

Okay I haven't taken the throttle apart yet and I don't think I need to because I think it's okay. Here's why. I unplugged this 48v half twist throttle and plugged in the original 36v thumb throttle (which I know is good and has nothing wrong with) and guess what... I still had the WOT problem. So I'm pretty sure that rules out anything wrong with the throttles. Looks like the problem is inside the controller now. I guess I'll be taking it apart this weekend to find out if anything got knocked loose in there. (ugh  )

LOL, I had the reverse happen: I thought it was the controller, and it turned out to be the throttle. :p
