Hi, I need to find a decent spot welder fast. I am currently repairing 12 Milwaukee battery packs and my spot welder died. I need something under $200 that I can use for a while until I can buy a better one. I’m not a big business, I just do it on the side. I have found a few — I will post the pictures and the links for them. I need it for .1 mm copper and .2 mm nickel sandwich. I prefer to use pure nickel, but I have steel-plated nickel if it has to be used to achieve the weld. I’d prefer Amazon so I can get it faster, but I’m open to advice somewhere else.

Here is what I would recommend:

That way, you get the product shipped quickly and support a small business trying to make the electric world better.

I use alot of .2 pure nickle do uk if that is a problem for that rig

I'd recommend asking @ZEUS-FL for some recommendations for powerful welders.

I just don't want to recommend you a too powerful unit personally.

I’ve seen that one quite a bit and it has good reviews. I’ve found some posts where people said it can do what I want, but the same was said about the Docreate ones I’ve tried, so I’m a little skeptical, lol. I really don’t want to keep using the infinite weld technique — it’s time-consuming and a pain. I also don’t want to have to buy another spot welder within the next 30 days.
I do plan on getting a really good one, but for now business is slow and I haven’t been in business long, so it’ll be a while before I need one or can afford a high-end unit. How would I message him or tag him? I’m still kind of new to this forum.

I mean I dont need super powerful jist something that can do the sandwich and .2 pure nickle with out it breaking or having to max it out so it over heats fast and have to take more cool down intervals I appreciate the reply by the way the sight has been a big help

Wow, interesting
If i wanted to make a battery that's capable of 100A output, i know i need some thick copper - would this be powerful enough to weld together essentially a low power motorcycle battery?

Am i looking at something more like:
AWithZ P20B Spot Welder 14.6 kW

It says it can do .1 copper is doubt it can do thicker copper

I have the AwithZ P20B from Zeus.

I can weld 0.3mm copper under 0.1mm stainless steel using welding flux at about 68% of the unit's power.

0.2mm copper under 0.1mm stainless with flux at about 39% of the units available power.

I recommend skipping Nickel/nickel steel sandwich, just go right to 0.1mm stainless on top of 0.15mm or thicker copper.

I just built a Makita 10 21700 cell (BAK45D) with 0.3mm copper under the Kit's 0.2mm Nickel plated steel busbars using 83.5% of the available power

I'd say not to get a cheaper welder now and a good one later, spend a bit more now and get a very capable one now that you don't have to replace with a more capable one later.

The lesser percentage of power required of the welder the quicker battery assembly goes as the capacitors charge faster, and the welder itself stays cooler.

Nelvick's ( ZEUS-FL) AwithZ's prices beat Amazon, and he will ship it so quickly your head will spin.

The UKF10 requires a powerful USB-C supply. it does not come with it.

I'd choose the AWZ Uf20b for that reason, but recommend you not screw around and just get the AWZ P20B, and stainless steel, and Flux.

I can weld 0.2 copper under 0.1mm stainless no flux using about gear 550(55%) but with flux this same sandwich drops to gear 389

Nelvick likes to stock the latest greatest high power Tabless cells.
He is a good dude.
Glad you bought a welder from him!

Ya we talked about the new cells im going to try push them and by from him for my next clients I had a hard time finding the one I do have price is not bad and there real cells iv been useing 18650batterys but if I can get ppl to get the new ones from him ill start doing that instead

What cells do the Milwaukee battery packs that you are repairing use?
Are you just replacing dead cells, or all of them?

I have a Ridgid 5s1P that I think uses Lishen 2AH 30 amp cdr cells, that I want to replace with Ampace JP30, but the Lishens are still performing well, and the battery looks really well built to me so I am hesitant to tear it apart.

I did remove 7 Sunpower 2500 mah 25 amp cells from a cordless vaccuum and replaced them With JP30's and 0.2mm copper busbars, and the vaccuum is now a far better tool.
It lasts far longer on the highest power setting.
I put 5 of those Sunpower cells into an Old 5s1P Ryobi which originally had 1500mah LG cells with a 22 amp CDR. One of the LG cells had failed, the other 4 are still functioning, but down to about 1100mah.

I want to support Nelvick's store as he is good at getting the latest greatest cells before anybody else, and then sends them off to Mooch for testing So we know how they perform.
People who purchase from 18650BS should thank him, as his competition has likely forced them to lower their prices.

The packs are the older 18650 samsung 20 and some have the Samsung 25rs but the customer wanted the mocile in them cuz they was cheapest so I got mocile p28a to put in all of them they had dead cells 2 or 3 in eacth. Pack but most of them had corrosion and rust on and in the top of the + sides and the same 20s are discontinued and the 25rs are costly so was better to change them all out and 1 of the bms was dead if u do take apart a Milwaukee pack keep atleast 18v from a bench supply or something on the main leads of the bms they have an auto brick feature in them if they see full 0v sometimes u can bring them back sometimes u cant

Wow. what a small world. I was talking with @jrclown without know about this post until now. :-D
I glad he is part of this forum. :-D Thank you for supporting the store. Also thank everybody for recommending me and the store. I was about to go in a live video while fulfilling orders.

If the pack is still preforming we'll I would Ovid takeing it apart unless u need extra amps

Yup lol tyvm for you imput aswell like I said if I can push the new cells ill be comeing to u for them

The auto brick feature is another reason as to Why I have been hesitant to replace Lishen cells with Ampace JP30's on my Ridgid 5s1p battery. Since they have the Lifetime service agreement if registered with 90 days of purchase, I don't find as much data about them.

I'd rather just build new battery kits with 21700 tabless cells, rather than rebuild stock18650 batteries and deal with the possible self brick factor.

My Makita battery kit with 10 BAK45Ds in it is working well, but takes a little finesse to get into the charger. I did run it down to the low voltage disconnect and a while later read 15 volts. My Leaf blower does not seem to be able to use the extra voltage available with tabless, but I can tell the blower is not losing speed slowly after the first minute, like I can with the stock Makita batteries.

My Stock Makita 4.0AH batteries, I have seem them go down as low as 12.49v when I disconnected the non power tool load.

I have used these power tool batteries to power a CC/CV booster step up converter to charge my 10S Esk8 battery. I quit using the Makitas when i saw they would go below 12.5 volts, and then only used the Ridgids for this task as I know they cut power above 12.5v and will not overdischarge. i actually prefer to use 6S and &s batteries to power the V boosters for portable charging 10S batteries though.
