Could it be that this is the only hubmotor that uses a quick release axle?

Most new bikes don't have those open oldschool dropouts anymore. My Norco Shore 1 for example has Maxle front and rear axles. If I want to install a motor, I'd have to modify the dropouts (like some guys did here) or go for middrive. It looks like with this motor that problem is solved.

I hope to see more motors with that kind of axles soon.

I'm afraid neodrives.com only sells to manufacturers.
Whats also gay about it: It has an internal controller and it's very limited in power to keep it legal as a so called pedelec.

Hopefully the Chinese come up with some powerful quick release axle hubmotors too.

not so
Both legendary USA-DESIGNED and USA made Tidal Force and Eplus motors use quick release axle
both of them have controllers built in
their axles don't carry undersized phase wires, wires exit motors through individual holes in thick centre hub.
so their axles are just off the shelf quality bicycle axles
BTW it looks so neat and precision made motor on the picture.
I doubt China brands will offer anything even close in terms of quality.
TF and Eplus motor hubs are precision cast real aluminium /$$$$/ no junk aluminium /cheap/.

I didn't know about the Tidal motors yet.

Looks like the Neodrive is like that too.

How much motor/regen torque will a quick-release take in comparison to a traditional nutted axle?

Quick release Will take a lot.
Eplus torque can reach 85Nm - that is a lot for a such small for the power 1000W /true power,no simulation here/ and relatively light motor.
And Eplus uses off the shelf high quality quick release.
I never in thousands of kilometers saw quick release going loose.
But Eplus uses solid billet alloy very well designed torque arm.
China brand axles are hollow to carry wires and such design calls for very high quality steel so it can last ,
and at China brand factory quality is job #......,
NO number one for sure.
So how much torque can nutted axle take, it depends on quality of material a lot for sure.

Make a motor easier to steal...brilliant ! We need better frames, not motors that fit existing frames better.

there is lot of equipment on my ebike like computer, CAnalist , pump, battery, etc. which can be stolen easly.
Rear wheel with motor I chain to frame simply.
I have arule - if I cannot roll my ebike inside at minimum between entrance doors I do not use that business like shop, doc office, dentists.
Usually they need my business and they don,t mind.
old cluncers with no such ebike equipment can be chained outside.

Looking close, I can't see how they are controlling axle spin. a flat side axle would work like normal, but I see round in the picture.

There is some weird looking stuff on the wire side, some brushes there for contact so the axle can spin a little with no problem?
