Hi

After my current battery died and I've managed to secure a partial refund im on the hunt for a replacement. I'm based in the UK and given I've just had a bit of a crappy experience with someone who was supposedly the best battery builder in the country I'm unsure of which route to take.

A company based in the UK is offering 14s8p Panasonic GA cells roughly 1200-1400 wh

For the same price I can get the Cyc A series battery which is 14s3p 750 wh.

I know Cyc have had their issues but they do always seem to sort the customer out in the end. The other company offering the GA cells do have some .bad reviews when things go wrong but I do acknowledge that you tend to hear more bad reviews than good.

What would you go for?

This is to be used with a cyc X1 stealth

Can't tell if you are looking to make a decision on which type of cell, which battery configuration or which vendor?

Comparing the Molicel to the Panasonic cells is a bit like apples to oranges. The Panasonic NCR18650GA is one of the highest capacity 18650 cells that there is (claims of 3,200-3,500mah). But, it gives up that power slowly (10 amp max). Molicels typically don't have the highest capacity but can supply huge amounts of power quickly. (Probably why one is 8p and one is 4p.) Not sure what you are looking for?

These are just the different options available to me at the minute for around the same price and after some opinions on what the best option may be. I generally don't ride long distances but do like to give the throttle a blast. The battery I've just got rid of matched the cyc offering using the Samsung 50s in a 3p config. Once down to about 50v if I his full throttle it would sometimes sag below 42 volts and I'd lose power. One of these alternatives may not suffer so bad but I'm no expert.

The Samsung 50s is a 21700 cell which is why it was run at 3p. The older a cell is the more it will sag under load.

EM3EV is well regarded. The Molicel pack would probably have the least amount of sag. It may not have the longest distance but I don't think that's your issue.

Ah ok I might just go with cyc's offering although I'm curious what the deal will be with warranty returns. I'm having a nightmare trying to find a company in the UK who will return my current broken battery. None of the UK companies will touch it so god knows what shipping to china will be like.

Are you looking for a battery or a company which would recell your battery? It is really hard to understand what is your question.

Apologies if my post didn't make sense. I needed to return my old battery for a refund which I've done now and was trying to find a decent replacement. I would have preferred something like 14s4p of molicel p42 cells but couldn't find any so I've just ended up ordering from cyc and A series battery which is identical to the battery I just got rid of that broke. It's on route to me now
