Just saw this today, cannot understand for the life of me what they were going for with the American Football shape... but at 1500W for a charger with easily customisable output parameters via an app it seems like a pretty decent product if it is actually well made:

Edit - It's actually a bit more complex that I thought, you have to buy the right model for your voltage and I *think* you can then tune in the app. The 1500W is also only available at one specific voltage, most of them are more like 1200W.

Nothing more american than football and americans need balls. So this is perfect! I'm erecting my flag now. This has to be designed by americans, given the shape. I mean, how else can they come up with this immaculate design? Tech-Chic for sure. Must purchase! Maybe they will have a Futbol version? /s

Looks like a pretty nice charger. Dig that 93% efficiency. Hate the football shape but luckily they didn't go super hard on that aesthetic and completely ruin it for us non-enjoyers of football.

Any idea on price?

Never bought anything from DALY so far.
Are there direct to consumer places for buying Daly stuff or is it always a matter of emailing and negotiating with someone in chinglish with this company?

So it's not quite as flexible as I thought, I have updated the OP with a reply from Daly about models and voltages. Their replies are decent in terms of Chinglish, I have asked a bit more about the app.

It always astonishes me how poorly companies like Daly set up their websites and organise their various models. The same goes for JK as well. They have a myriad of updates and models and 'promo' material which contradicts and confuses but they never seem to want to sort it out and make it clear. It would take an intern a day to actually make it clear but they seem to insist on having it as confusing as possible and omitting useful info like the table I posted in the OP in my edit.

Re: Pricing, the Daly website links to a Daly web store which has the charger for $444. But Daly products are often found on AliE for significantly less - This listing has it for $269 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009362153191.html
But you would have to be very clear about model numbers and what you are buying.

Daly have an OK reputation for their BMS products, but plenty of folks have had issues in the past if you google their 100 Balance BMS line for example, I can't find any good reviews of them recently so idk if they have ironed out the kinks. I am not sure I would put a huge amount of faith in a brand new product like this from them.

I guessed it was a way to enforce "this side up" for fan bearings, airflow or whatever other thing has a preferred orientation.

Hmm.. i was hoping for something that'd be like an oversized grin Cycle Satiator ( works up to a certain voltage, but adjustable below that ). Let us know if you find out more details

Yea same tbh,

They have replied saying that once you have selected the model it will work in that voltage range... But it is obviously not completely clear what 'range' that is. You can also change the charge settings, battery type etc.

So I guess still useful within those parameters. They said they are uploading a more detailed app walkthrough "next month".

I have offered to test it for them if they want to send me a unit, but I don't have any influencer cred so I wouldn't expect them to send one.

More than likely. Not if you believe the IP67 rating of course, but that's almost certainly fictional.

IDK why this popped into my head just now... but they are dead serious about that IP rating - have a look at the video here: link

Just ordered one of these. They seem kinda good for a ready to go charger, and they now do a 25A/1500W version. Contacted them via Whatsapp and $200+$50 shipping to the UK.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Received this the other day and I'm honestly pretty impressed.

It's a hefty unit that feels well built, and the app is simple (It's the Daly BMS app, but you just select the charger) and works well for adjusting voltage and charge current.

Beneath the football 'shell' is a somewhat similar design to these kind of chargers:

At lower currents it's extremely quiet, and then fairly noisy once the fan ramps up. Nothing out of the ordinary however.

For the price - $200 USD (and then $45 postage) I think it represents really quite amazing value for money. I'm not sure there is anything else that can be had for this price that offers this kind of functionality with up to 25A charging.

Chinese marketing departments (if they even have them) come up with some weird af angles to sell their products. IDK who thought leaning into the football thing was going to sell these. But beneath all of that weirdness is what seems to be a really quite solid product. If any of this changes long term I'll be sure to update the thread.

The meanwell NPP-1200-48 and NPP-1700-48 are fairly similar it looks like, but the 1200 is about $250 and the 1700 is about $370. The NPP models I believe don't use the app, but voltage and current can be adjusted by potentiometer on the back between something like 42 and 80 volts for the 48v model.

The 48v model of the 1700 claims 94% efficiency, and a power factor of .98 at full load on 120vac.

An avenue to consider if you want a charger that isn't a football I guess?

Decent options, for me having something a little 'neater' - in that the inputs and outputs are push-connectors, as opposed to bolt-in wires is much better/more desirable, and the ease of adjustment via the app is obviously a big advantage. Being able to quickly adjust the charge current between low/slow/good for battery health and high/fast but slightly more damaging is really useful.

If they hadn't gone with the bizarre marketing I doubt I would have even made the association between this charger and an American Football 🙃
