Hi folks,

I got into ebiking a few years ago with a Currie bike and now have an a2b velociti with lithium battery. My 6 mos old Ultra Motor battery is on its way back to California for repairs. (as soon as the dealer and Ultramotors reach an agreement on who is paying for shipping but thats a whole other story) This has been two months in the works and made me realize that a battery problem without a battery solution is like all gas stations are closed. I am not going anywhere!

I have looked at ping batteries but have no experience with what I need for a pack etc. If Ultra Motors or Hero come thru and get my battery fixed sometime this year then I still want a secondary battery. I would like another option other than Ultra Motors replacement at $800+ Would I need to by a case to contain the batteries and special connectors that match the Velocity?

I live in London Ontario area and if there is anyone local to this area that can help me out I would happily hand over the cash to set me up with a solution for batteries. My local dealer went belly up!

Check cellman for a a123 battery or ping. If you know what the limit of your controller please let us know. Plus how far do you need to go ? Volts ect.

A 15 ah pingbattery in your voltage, (36v?) would be a good choice. Whatever the bike has for a battery connector would have to be found, and installed on the ping battery. You'd have to find a box, my favorite is old vintage metal tackleboxes. Lots of other things work good, usually something about shoebox shaped and size.

Im not sure if your bike draws enough current to be too much for the frog type batteries. Those come in a nice case.

thx for responding, I have been in touch with ping and looking at the 15 ah 36v. I don't know what the controller limit is but the bike is 36V 11.4 ah 400 Watts. Ping tells me there is no connector on the market for an a2b to convert to the anderson connector they use. I was wondering if this is a common problem and how to overcome it. Can I expect more distance with the higher ah battery?

Thanks again

As for someone in your area...sort of depends how close you mean..As in London/Toronto area no idea..but a little bit further afield..Montreal... Maxwell65 from the forum here. Not sure what he stocks in the way of packs..if any, but he is sort of in your area, considering this is a global forum

Can find some E-S members here: http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/EndlessSphere. Looks like no one in London, Ontario exactly, but Kitchener and Hamilton have a few. But there's also least one member that shows up on a google search "site:endless-sphere.com location london ontario".

Another option: I don't know what the other end you need is, but powerwerx have a number of adaptors, maybe you could rig up something with one of those. Or maybe they (or epbuddy, or icecube57 on this forum) could make a custom adaptor for you.

If you're interested in riding and maintaining an ebike, you should really get in the habit of rewiring things. Don't worry - it's easy. Buy a bunch of Anderson powerpoles and a crimping tool, then cut your wire right before the A2B connector, figure out which strand is + and -, and install Anderson connectors appropriately.

What happened to the battery? Wouldn't hold a charge? Wouldn't take a charge? I had to fix mine.

yeh, too bad you didn't open it up and we could help you fix it.

skip the $800 36V ultramotor pack, the best deal on pouch packs now is 48V15Ah packs from Sun-Thing28 on ebay. only $404 delivered. once you go up to 48V in voltage you won't even want the old 36V battery back.
