even though it kind of landed me to the reality of how complex things are in this hobby! :roll:

i was kind of enthusiastic and with high hopes i can get a good upgrade for my needs easily and with 500 budget, now i have to study further, as i do not have higher $$ to waste in low chances experiments..

That is why you need the mid drive kit. It's "plug and play/ride" and is under €500,- including shipping and taxes/duty. With the 1300km/year you will ride (probably more if you get the "ebike grin") and keeping it at 500W your chain and cassette will last two years before needing to be replaced.

Slowco, it is not under 500 euro, it is about 520, but, yet, I have to agree, one of the most cost effective, solid and simple solutions!

I am tempted to go for this battery you are recommending, but I see this is chinese cells battery...
From all that I ve read here in es, I ve understood that, from all things to buy manufactured from China, battery-cells is the last one should! :?

Do you have personnal experience Slowco? Have you used it, or do you know people that used it and have good opinion of it?
 
I don't have experience with that specific battery pack. I do have a Chinese LiFePo4 pouch cell battery pack that i was able to revive (my fault, let it uncharged for years) and am using that for half a year now. From what I've read so far is that the brand-less Chinese cell battery packs do work but often have a shorter life expectancy and lower Ah capacity than advertised. So if you want more reassurance then buy the pack with name brand cells (and hope they are genuine...). But for your short trips the 48V 13Ah (=624Wh) battery I posted is so over spec'd that it won't be a problem if it only has 10Ah in reality after a years use. You'll still have more than enough range. And if you keep the mid drive at 500W and don't choose or upgrade to 750W everything (battery, controller, chain and cassette) will be less stressed and will last longer.
 
Ok got it! I prefer to go with the "LG branded" pack and risk a bit... It is only 20 euros more after all!!..

Go for a mid-drive - TSDZ2 !!

I see that I can order it as 750w rated, why should I not go for that in the first place?
Just to secure my long-lasting gears and a little more range??

I say I go for the 750 and I will try to moderate the given power manually, in order to succeed with the longer range/milleage :mrgreen:

Yes, just order the 750W rated kit. In the TDSZ2 thread some have had to replace the blue plastic gear for the metal one. Most important is to keep the rpm of the motor up by shifting down when necessary. That way the torque stays within reasonable levels and everything lives longer. In the dedicated TDSZ2 thread there is info and updated firmware to let the system work better and more natural with the built in torque sensor. It seems worthwhile to perform that upgrade. Yet I have another problem now... I tried to measure my bottom bracket nad it is 68 mm, OK!

But I found out there are these components down there... What can I do with these??

You can change these bare cables with complete bowden cables and route them above the bottom bracket. Now it is probably a short piece of bowden (outer flexible "tube" with inner steel cable) from the lever to a fixed tab on the frame. Then the bare steel wire/cable down along the frame and under the bottom bracket on those plastic guiding pieces to the next fixed tab/mount/bracket on the frame. And from there a short piece of outer tube with inner cable to the brake or derailler.
 
I asked a bike-shop about the cost to install the kit on my bike and the price requested was 80-100 €!

Is this not a bit expensive?? :?
 
I don't know what the normal hourly rate is in that bike shop and they probably find it difficult to guess how much time it will cost them. Especially if they don't have (much/any?) experience doing it.
But why not try it yourself? If you get stuck there is help on this forum. And if you really have to you can always go to that bike shop as a last resort.
 
Doesn't sound outrageous to me.

In the spectrum of do-it-yourself bicycle shop work, this is at least a little advanced. I haven't taken apart a bottom bracket in so long that I'm sure nothing today is the same, but I expect it still takes some special tools, and I guess you'd be installing the kit's crank arms, so there's another occasionally difficult disassembly - pedal threads can be hard to loosen (even if you're not trying to turn the wrong way - one of them has left handed threads.)

The advantage is that you'd then have the experience and knowledge of the installation, particularly the torque sensor, and that's sure to be useful at some point.

Can you point me to some thread, or tell me what kind of tools I will need?

Hard to say from here. You'll need a couple of things of this nature: https://www.parktool.com/category/crank-bottom-bracket - but you'll need to know what bottom bracket you have, to select the right thing. Plus metric wrenches, at least one socket that matches your crank bolts (unscrew bolt cover on the crank to see what you have.) Maybe a flat file if you're going to remove those cable guides.

There are the people with experience mounting, using and upgrading the TDSZ2. For seeing how to do the installation I would suggest to search YouTube for video's. Not sure there are (m)any about the TDSZ2 but you can also watch video's about the Bafang BBS02 and BBSHD as that is very similar.

Flat files are the best - LF terminated ASCII records, that is - very versatile.

As for the tool, I suppose the real name is "bastard file". A flat bar of hard metal, with ridges cut diagonally across both flat sides. You would use that to chew down the cable guides under your bottom bracket, if they're in the way.

they said it ll take 1-2 months to have stock.. so its too long wait..
yet i might wait, as i would prefer it against bbs02. i do need the torque sensing ability and what is more, tsdz is significantly cheaper..

some other supplier of tsdz?
