Okay, CNN just couldn't pass up the chance to offer some fake news on this. I've had cameras around lesser rioting than this, I would advise against being TOO friendly in that situation. It seems staged. And I'm sure the police thought this was being staged.
You see the skirmish line behind the reporter, then the off camera action came right to the camera crew. CNN knows better than to think no phony would EVER have CNN badges, but they act like the police are lying about taking them into custody and identifying them. I'm sure it was all about identifying them. Planting yourself right in the middle of the street in front of a skirmish line is just a dumb idea.
Being press around riots is not a game, you have no business acting nonchalant. People who stage incidents work overtime on their 'But I was so calm and friendly the whole time.' When you DON'T know what's going on you're bound to be more emotional.
