Nice review of the new Nissan Leaf

I believe the Nissan Leaf to be an advertising ploy to convince greenies to buy an ordinary Nissan Gas Versa or maybe a fraudulent nonplug-in (parallel) hybrid. Car companies can't survive without revenue from their dealer network service departments. EV's don't need service like gas cars do.
Either Nissan simply won't build the Leaf at all, or else they will do something to it to ruin its market appeal, such as pricing it way too high or making the battery system a highly priced lease-only item.

Perhaps, but I have owned many different makes and models of cars over the years (I am 50) and I can tell you many stories about break-downs and needed repairs. However, I own a 1991 Toyota truck and a 2000 Nissan Sentra, and neither of them has ever needed anything other than oil, tires, and brakes. Although some Toyota/Nissan somewhere will need some kind of repair, their frequency of break-down continues to be much better than average.

Toyota/Nissan are doing fine in spite of making cars that require few repairs and last a long time.
